I just read this alert on ESPN that the Jets may look to sign Josh McCown. As much as I'm not a fan of Fitzpatrick, I'd rather see him under than McCown. McCown is not a bad quarterback, but like Fitz, can be inconsistent and too much wear and tear. I'm more open to either starting Geno or signing Griffin.
Please, no, just no: http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/pos...mccown-and-the-jets-other-quarterback-options 1. Josh McCown, Cleveland Browns: New coach Hue Jackson is rebuilding the quarterback position, and it sounds like he wants to go with a yet-to-be-acquired veteran and a rookie. They can draft their quarterback of the future,Carson Wentz or Jared Goff, with the No. 2 overall pick. McCown, due to make $4.4 million, is the likely odd-man out. The Jets, who met with McCown last February before trading for Fitzpatrick, have interest. They'd rather wait until he's released, which seems inevitable, but that could be a few more weeks. The 36-year-old McCown is 18-39 as a starter.
Fitzpatrick is obviously better, but McCown would not be a bad fall back option. All of these available QB's are pretty close to each other.
McClown sucks. The Jets are going to be linked to every single QB who is available, who may become available, or dreamed up as possibly available, as long as they are engaged in a contract standoff with Fitzpatrick. Oh? you mean Jeff George is a free agent?- "We have interest...." Mike Maccagnan to media sources. wink wink
Fitz has been nearly average for the past six years and average the past three. Aside from his late season run with the Bears a couple years ago, McCown has been Geno level. RG3 and Kaep started out above average and then regressed to Geno level. I would take any of those QBs, Geno included, over McCown.
I don't know. McCown might just be a late bloomer. 2 out of his last 3 years he played smart and kept the ints down. The year in TB was a shit show so I can't really blame him for that. Some qbs need to sit and learn for a year or two some need to sit and learn for a decade or two.
Josh McCown sure did play smart in CLE, first game out of the season. He didn't want to deal with the Jets defense so he effectively took himself out of the game with the McCowncopter. Sign this 36 year old beast that can't stay healthy.
Sorry, but I dont think he can hack it. He's taken too many shots to the head in his career.... (too soon?)
I saw Jason LaCanfora say this but who else is saying it? McCown or Hoyer? I'd take Hoyer. He's 30 still
Fitz injured himself in that Raiders game stupidly, but IMO McCown made a worse decision and should've slid to give himself another chance at get his team another shot at scoring. Instead he turned the football over and was concussed. He got injured again later that season. I want nothing to do with McCown, I would rather watch Geno Smith play to be honest.
