UPDATE: Water temps off Atlantic City now at 45.7F. Closing in on the magic 50F which signals the start of the season. New bag limits on Black Sea Bass in place as well: 10 fish May 15th-June 19th. 3 fish July 1st - Aug 31st. 15 fish Oct 18th-Dec.31st. Length remains 12.5" min.
Seabass regs continue to be strange and broken up. None in Aug or Sept this year? Weak. And they'll pry my tangled in the line lobster from my cold, dead hands. Also, Dear Lord please let the cod show up in force, guys are out there fishing for bergalls. Planning on getting out there for some spring cod this year Cman?
Hell Yeah! I'm just waiting for the water temps to hold at 50 or higher for maybe a week. I saw guys were down to keeping bergalls. I don't have that kind of cash to waste so I'll wait for Mother Nature to start the season officially. Gonna have to restock flat sinkers too. That last tog trip almost cleaned me out.
BTW, here's a link to NOAA for water temps off the east coast.. http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/catl_tmap.html
Yeah I've been holding off going too. I went last year the Monday after Easter and it was a bit too soon...but if you have any kind of rubber that looks like a baby seabass, that sure as hell killed them last year around the time they woke up. I think I had these http://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/soft-baits/unrigged-plastic-swimbaits|/pc/104793480/c/104772780/sc/104162580/southern-pro-2-stinger-shad/1159821.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Funrigged-plastic-swimbaits%2F_%2FN-1100344%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104162580%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BBRprd702145 or something very similar. I need a restock on a bunch of stuff also, good thing tax refund season is here ahahaha Thanks for the link, I'll be keeping an eye on that.
Those look like Crappie lures! LOL I'll give them a shot. Cabelas is raping folks with the shipping prices so I'll just pop up to Hamden, PA and get mine in store. That link should be good forever.
Haha yeah looking at those they had to be about double that size but the same pattern. I'm thinking anything fat and black and silver should be good. There isn't even a Cabelas here yet so when I go out there I make a day of it.

If you haven't taken your trip yet I have a couple of friends that work boats out of Deerfield Beach which is a bout 15 miles north of Ft.Lauderdale. Just let me know and I can get you the names and numbers for the boats.
The OE is targeting Tog again starting this friday. I'll pass until the water temps get higher. I'm thinking April 16/17th for the first trip. Most likely on the Dauntless since they'll be doing general bottomfishing. BTW, with that water temp site, check the buoy south of LI and due east of I195. That's pretty close to the mudhole.
down on amelia island fla this past week.put my 9 y.o. girl on some blues and whiting (sp) in the surf. girl did good and had a blast. nothing real big but steady action
Sounds great! Send those blues up here so we can have some fun too! From what I've heard, Stripers are inbound. Hitting down around Cape May, NJ working north.
