Disagree that he was better than Thompkins and Enunwa. It's definitely a weird thing though. Bowles likes his ability but he was with the 3rd stringers early on in camp. It has to be attitude/work ethic related because it's clearly not on talent.

That being said, there's a reason Kerley took multiple visits and ended up signing with the Lions, who already have two WRs above him on the depth chart, for one year.

I'm sure Bowles was just saying some nice things about a player they had to let go. Its clear Bowles didnt value his skillset.

Decent player, but not a crazy loss.

I don't know how the Lions thing says anything about the guy. He's a 3rd WR. He signed with a team that didn't have any 3rd WR. It's a good fit actually and he should have a decent role there. He visited Buffalo as well but they dont have any money.

Last year could've been an attitude thing but we never heard anything of that previously. Judging by Bowles' comments here and the types of WRs Gailey usually plays I think it was a size thing. Gailey prefers WRs that aren't 5'9, 180 lbs. Thats why Kerley sat, most of the time, in favor of 3 lesser players that were bigger

The Lions thing shows that right now, he's nothing more than a WR that's going to try and crack the rotation. It's not a stretch to say that Lance Moore could beat him out if healthy. That's kind of what he was here, except he didn't crack the rotation. So it's not like Bowles/Gailey value him that much lower than any other team in the league. He also visited the Pats btw.

I do agree with your thoughts on why he sat, although I still feel like there's some kind of story we aren't getting behind the scenes.

Exactly. Kerley showed up to training camp 30lbs lighter and 6 inches shorter than Enunwa and Gailey never forgave him.

not a loss at all. he was a special teams player who didnt give a ton on special teams and couldnt see the field on 3rd downs.

im glad he is gone. he was complete dead weight. we stand to upgrade in the return game and id rather a young WR who may eventually see the field.

I just don't get it. He seemed servicable, it always kind of bothered me that we totally neglected to use him. I don't think he was really THAT bad that he would get 20 offensive snaps all season. I understand his contract sucked, but he was still on the team.

Will never understand why we just had Kerley rotting on the bench when we could have used him in the slot on so many 3rd down situations last season. Very odd. Hope he does well in Detroit.

I'm not trying to be reactionary but this coaching staff has not sold me yet. They have done some strange things. Week 17 was such a shit show I am still not over it. The gameplan for the most crucial game of the season was totally amiss. Totally bizarre game, almost felt like it was thrown. Todd Bowles seems to have strange pet peeves and I'm still trying to wrap my head around his personality.

I should also say that I am not opposed to him being cut. His contract sucked. I just thought we could have utilized him in some way last year.

What would you suggest the gameplan should have been? Ivory was obviously still nursing his knee and Powell was out. What would you have done different?

I have a hard time believing that Ivory couldn't have gotten more carries in what was essentially a playoff game.

Ivory burst for a 60 yard gain at one point and they Ridley right back in the very next snap. Ivory looked good every snap he played. It was a playoff game, ride him all the way. I don't give shit if he was running on one leg, he looked good enough. Ridley was total garbage and we had no Powell.

Then we can talk about the defensive atrocity. Sammy Watkins will forever live in my nightmares.

Haha. Yeah Sammy lit us up.

I went to that game in Buffalo. I had told my gf back in September that even though most people were picking the Jets to be trash I thought they were going to have a good year and their playoff chances would be decided by that game.

Being the great girlfriend that she is, she immediately bought tickets in the fourth row in the side of the end zone and surprised me with a Christmas present.
Waiting to go up to the pool a couple days before the game I saw Brandon Marshall in the elevator. There were like 4 kids next to me wearing his jersey. We were on the 15 floor (or something) and we're going up to the pool and they were going down to leave. An elevator opened up but the light didn't go on which was weird. A guy got off that I didn't recognize but then I looked in the elevator I pointed to him and told my girlfriend "I know that guy". As the doors closed I said "holy shit, that was Brandon Marshall". The kids freaked out cuz they weren't really paying attention. We got on the next elevator up and went to the pool just in time to see him walk into his room which was right next to the pool. And that's my boring but true story about my first trip to Buffalo

I was also at the game. It was one of the best experiences of my life, the tailgate was amazing. My father and I had a total blast. 90% of Bills fans were pretty awesome and we just overall had a great time. Of course the Jets had to make it bittersweet. Can't help but think of how awesome it would have been walking out of that stadium with a win and a playoff berth. Part of me wanted to cry like a little child but I can't be selfish, it was a hell of a time and if I can make it happen I'll go back up to Buffalo again this year.

I've had the same experience at pretty much any away game I've gone to.

Went to the Cowboys game this year and I couldn't believe how many Jets fans were there, but I didn't see a single fight and the host fans were very gracious, even if it was a non conference game against a team that had already given up.

Say what you want about Jets fans, but we travel well.
