Unlike the situation with Fitz where I believe the Jets have all the leverage, I believe Brick has them by the balls. There are no other tackles out there. You can ask Brisk to take a pay cut but why would he. The Jets have no options. They could trade for Ryan Clady who has been hurt the last 2 years or they could draft a tackle in the first round. Where there picking they would likely be talking about the 4th or 5th best tackle. You can cut Brick but where does that leave the Jets at LT. Tough spot!

I don't think we can cut Brick without a replacement right now. We need to win as soon as possible considering the ages of all our best players. My gut tells me we will be going after a LT in the draft considering the stress we've put on the front 7 and skill positions in free agency. We just have to be careful not to waste the final prime years of guys like Marshall, Harris, Forte, Mangold and hopefully Fitz.

We could cut Breno and replace him with a rookie RT or Qvale not to mention we could cut our Kicker (which is risky) and save a total of 7 mil ... if Brick even takes a small 1 or 2 million dollar pay cut that leaves us with close to 12 million in space ... add a few minor adjustments that MM could pull out his sleeve and that can get close to 15 mil ... with that money we would have enough to sign Fitz, our rookie pool, and include the 2 defensive lineman we signed ...

Let me add to that getting Mo on a long term deal say 6 years at 90 mil that could lower his 2016 hit to say 12 mil and give us an added 3 mil

Try your moves on OTC, you will come up short.

The Jets are almost certainly going to have to either trade Mo or cut D'Brick. It just doesn't work out any other way. I don't think any other moves are forced on them but one of those two likely is.

this isnt news. me and serveral others will all over this last season saying bricks replacement needed to be drafted or signed to the roster.

i disagree with "has the jets by the balls" though. i mean he isnt good enough where we cant cut him, and we arent good enough to where its like we have to keep him because he gives us a legit shot at the superbowl. he played like a bottom third of the league tackle last season.

i dont see many scenarios where he isnt cut. we would need to get fitz at around 5-7 million or go with another option at qb and trade mo without taking on much of a contract and brick needs to restructure.

Cutting Brick would hurt us for one season ... where getting rid of Mo would hurt us for multiple seasons ... especially if Sheldon fails a test ...

IMO you all need to accept the fact that Mo is gone sooner rather than later. For one thing, he will give us more cap space than any other move. For another he wants at least $40 million guaranteed, and I don't think Mac will ever give him that. Finally, whatever we get for him this year will be better than the 3rd round compensatory pick the Jets would get for him next year.

going with a "win now" strategy without having anywhere near the talent to "win now" in a division where the pats have it locked up before the season starts relegating us to fighing for 1 of 2 wildcard spots seems like a horrible horrible idea.

jets should look to build an infrustracture towards sustained success. not one where plug holes and bail water hoping ryan fitzpatrick can outsail cruise ships on the way to el durado.

If we could get him for 6 years at 90 mil I think it gets done ... if he wants over 100 he's most likely gone ...

i agree in general. although it would depend what we got for mo. i wouldnt let bricks fate decides mo's. brick is pretty much done in the near future. mo is in his prime. if i deal mo, its because the value makes sense, not because it helps keep brick

Unless the contract is backloaded, how is that gonna help our cap this year?

I think Mo is going to have to be dealt because whatever we get for him this season will be better than a 3rd round compensatory pick, and we need the cap space now. I don't think the two's fates are intertwined. I think Mo's fate was sealed when he asked for huge money and a huge chunk of guaranteed money.

Like I've said before we wouldn't save much but at an avg of 15 a season we could get him at 12 this year which would save us 3 mil ... and 18 next season ...

At the same time Brick and or Revis can come off the books next season ... not to mention we have 43 million in space next season ... close to 60 if we cut both

No reason to throw away the future because we're in a tight squeeze for cap space this season ... heck I rather keep Mo and start the season with Petty at QB

I rather move on from Fitz where at best he gives us another solid season (mentors Petty) as opposed to losing Mo ... unless we get a solid return say a 1st and a third

If we could trade Mo for a late first I would send our 2 firsts to try and move into the top 5 and draft Myles Jack ... in that case I would trade Mo hehe

Yes I know its a pipe dream lol
