Was high on Upshaw when he came out, but simply has not lived up to the hype. I'd take Norwood, good competition for Archer.

We could even have Dri return punts and Norwood return kicks, talk about a huge upgrade at both positions.

Alabama is great at developing football players. Problem is, when NFL teams draft them, they are often already at their ceiling, and can't get any better in the NFL. Courtney Upshaw, Chance Warmack, Dee Milliner, Mark Ingram, Eddie Lacy, Mark Barron.

Only Julio Jones and Amari Cooper really come to mind as recent Alabama players who did well in the NFL. Any others?

I think they have a couple of OL men that are doing well. I was not disparaging The Tide, I actually like to watch them play, but you made my point, or we just agree going about it 2 separate ways. If the Alabama players have hit their ceiling then a team should not draft them, they need to continue to get better after coming into the NFL not plateau when they enter the NFL.

I think Upshaw could be a serviceable replacement for Pace. Very similar players. Upshaw has done less, but is younger and has upside. Even if they sign him, they should still draft an OLB this year.

Upshaw could be a low risk high reward type player depending on the contract. I loved him coming out of Bama

Upshaw makes Demario Davis look like Ray Lewis

That was the mistake Rex made. Davis looks like Lewis, but he can't play anywhere near the same league.

Yeah I have nothing against Alabama. Players seem to be safe picks from their, but their ceilings aren't much higher, and imo are rarely worth a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Here is the thing with Upshaw: very strong, very good against the run, sheds blocks well.

Minimal burst and very little closing speed.

Upshaw could fill in for Pace but we still need to add talent of the edge on draft day!

When you sift in the dirt for free agent gems, trash competes against trash.
