Haha yes, well said. It's true. If Fitzpatrick is able to find more money elsewhere, good for him, but his best chance of success is with the Jets.

I think so. But maybe Fitz then says the same is true for the Jets. In other words it's a bidding war, really. The team that he has the most value for may have to pay for it. That perhaps means the Jets should be willing to pay at least a bit more than anyone else. The problem right now is we don't know what amount another team would be willing to pay is.

I could see that happening. He would go out after a pretty good season. He has five kids and has made a ton of dough. But in all seriousness how much longer can this drag on for?

Not that I think he's great, but SOJ the dude who breaks the TD record ends up retiring the next year lol

The player says Fitzpatrick has saved up more than enough money, and while football is his passion, "Ryan doesn't live and die with it."

Probably one of the reasons Fitzpatrick has had an average career at best. Also why the bright lights of New York did not cause any problems for him though.

If true, then winning and the game was never that important to Fitz, only making money. With that being the case, one would think that he wouldn't sneeze at the chance to get $7-$8 million more. It is after all double what he made last season. How many of us in real life are able to double our salaries from one year to the next?

Let him retire. If he doesn't care about winning and doesn't care about being here, then eff him.

It's a possibility. If it happens it happens.

The cap-strapped Jets aren't going to pay Fitzpatrick like he's a great QB or the future of the franchise, because he's neither of those things. Nobody else is going to give him that deal either. He might decide to call it quits while he still has most of his health. It wouldn't be the worst decision a player ever made. He's got a life after football unlike a lot of players.

I hope he stays because he's entertaining to watch but it's no sure thing and there's nothing the Jets should do to change his mind if that's where he's at come the draft.

I get the point here, but hate to be cynical, but the notion "If you don't pay me what I want, I can always retire!" sounds like a leverage play.

Best year...but still 0-2 against his co-conspirators and lost out chance to go to the playoffs. Now wants us to commit a lot of money into a long term contract. It's called a slow play. He's a con man.

Yeah guy, thats right he thought that mac would be dumb enough to give him the big bucks but he has been proven otherwise, now he will either sign for the 7-8 mil or retire, thinking his sneaky caniving ways will leave the jets in a hole but he didn't count the jets having our savior, the chosen one, the great

Go listen to any clip of Ryan Fitzpatrick mic'd up during a game and tell me that man doesn't care about winning. There are tons of players in this league who just show up for paychecks, he's not one.
