That's what I'm hoping, I hope fitz keeps trying to cash in and the jets decide to move on, I don't see them waiting around another 3-4 days for him to come around
Some of the stats are pretty stupid, doesn't every team want their defense to hold the oppositions score lower than theirs? It's the defenses job to hold leads for their offense. why is he being penalized for playing on crappy teams? If the jets scored 23 and their defense gave up 27, how is this on Fitz, what about Todd Bowles propensity for chasing points and costing his team 2 games last year, year? Or the kicker missing FGs? I don't think Fitz is an 18 million dollar year man, but these stats don't take in the facts of the game or the circumstances that led to a loss. It's not all on him, it still would not bother me if they moved on from him and his limitations.
Bowles didn't cost the jets two games, Fitzpatrick deciding to sling balls into double coverage did. Fitz threw 2+ picks multiple times this year, 3+ twice https://www.reddit.com/r/nyjets/wiki/statsdump If you can understand that, look through it and you will realize just how bad he has been. There's a reason the Jets are only trying to give him 7 million, stop focusing in on surface stats and realize that he hurts this team more than he helps it.
Fitz threw a staggering average of 6 interceptable passes a week, 2nd in the league, Passes that hit defenders right in the arms, think about that, and look at the defenses the Jets have to go against next year, it's not gonna be a cakewalk facing bottom ten defenses again. He is a limited journeyman QB, his success this year is because of Decker and Marshall making circus catches and Chans 1 read quick throw WC/spread offense, it is that simple
That is an unadulterated crock of shit. He had dropped INTs for sure, every single QB in the history of history has had dropped INTs. He also had 4 dropped TDs and that is a fact. _
Fitz is an ideal backup and I'm happy that the Jets front office wasnt suckered in like some fans were We had a perfect schedule with a great defense that got tons of takeaways and one of the best WR duos out there with a solid running game as well....Fitz did ok overall but he was consistently inconsistent and has been all of his career I'm OK with letting him battle it out on the cheap but to treat him as the starter (money and reps) would be a huge mistake. Rather roll the dice on someone more talented personally in a QB battle but I understand if they play it safe for another season
His percentage in that category is so low it's scary compared to his peers Simply put if your defense doesn't have a very good game you aren't winning with Fitzpatrick under center. It's pretty much what we saw as well this season....Anytime the defense wasn't on top of their game we basically lost because Fitz cannot win a shootout type game
We were 10th in the league in total yards and 11th in points per game... only two non playoff teams ranked ahead of us in points/game in the Saints & Giants, big surprise teams that scored 50+ against each other.
We had great WRs and a very good running game....and Yes Fitz played well a good amount of the time when everything else was going well But he struggled when we needed to make a comeback and needed points quickly if the defense was having an off day....Physically limited and forces things way too much in these situations Like I said, a great backup and team player but you're not happy at all with him as your starter.....His career tells this story
At this point we don't have many options, and he's honestly the best option for this team to have success in 2016. I like RG3 in thinking of long term success but there certainly could be growing pains if that's the move next year. Everyone tries to degrade what Fitzpatrick did last year. He gets credit for the losses but not the wins. He won't get credit for the offensive success because we had good receivers, and that's really it after the Washington game. It was Fitz/Marshall/Decker vs. defenses for a lot of those losses in the middle of the year until Powell came back and became a weapon with a good Ivory game sprinkled in once every 4 weeks for the last three quarters of the season.
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/info/methods DYAR is the only stat comparing QBs that is general (not cherry picked like the stats in that tweet), comprehensive (not like passer rating which accounts for just five inputs), and objective (not like PFF grades). It also does a good job matching up with reality, as you can see when you look at the rankings from year to year. Read the link for the explanation of how it works.
I give him credit for the wins but he didn't get the Jets enough wins to get into playoffs. In fact he choked in the Bills game.
