Totally agree. The West Region is a joke. Oregon vs Oklahoma/ Texas A & M Elite 8 for sure UNC and Virginia are gonna have hard regions. There are teams like MSU, Kentucky, Seton Hall, Xavier all left.
The sad thing about Oregon is that the state really hasn't cared that much. It's a pro basketball and college football state so there is hardly any local support. There was when Ernie Kent was here but Altman is from the Midwest and the media doesn't care. The Oregonian doesn't even send reporters to games. It's a disgrace. They deserve better. Hopefully both state teams being in it will change things. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Monmouth out Sad for them but I might have to tune into Francesa to hear him pretend he never guaranteed them a berth.
Yeah Stokes. Pretty crazy lol. Does anyone know if that 7 footer from Texas is going to be back for the tournament?
I agree on the field over those 2. they are both good teams but they dont really have the one go to guy that can get it done. and to your second point: in recent years the selection committee gets worse and worse. this year- horrendous!! Every single eligible power 5 school with a top-54 RPI made the tourney. But eight! non-Power 5 schools with top-54 RPIs did not. St. Mary's one of the 8
I would take the field as well since you have 62 other teams but msu and Kansas are playing the best basketball at the most important time of the year
Syracuse doesn't belong but neither does Michigan or Vanderbilt. Also, the forward, Tyler Davis, from A&M looks like the character from Soul Man:
Anyone else notice this; Villanova finished ahead of Xavier both in the standings and the polls. However, Villanova is #2 in the South, while Xavier is #2 in the East. Why? So that UNC would not have to face Villanova in Philadelphia. Disgraceful.
yes the seeds and regions are all jacked up too. They aren't supposed to set up the bracket with an eye on projected matchups down the road. This was the single worst job I've ever seen the selection committee do. what an embarrassment
They rewarded scheduling hard non conference games to teams in power conferences but not teams in the mid majors. Monmouth schedules and beats UCLA, Rutgers, and Georgetown on the road, Notre Dame at a neutral sight, goes 1-1 vs. USC but the only thing the committee will defend is bad losses @Army and Manhattan. It's really turning into a joke. If you're not a power 5 team you might as well mail it in if you don't win the conference.
WHERE'S THE POOL? It seems like this should be a place with some kind of mini-pool, at least. In addition to the 36th annual pool for friends and family my brother runs, a guy at work threw together an Elite Eight pool at work. Pick the final eight - most in it wins - tiebreaker is total of seed positions for teams that make it. Also, does anyone know of a printable bracket that extra space to add a player's name for each team? Also looking to add a spread for each game, but that can usually be squeezed in.
One bracket: KENTUCKY v MSU Oregon V Kansas MSU winning Kansas winning MSU champ Other: UNC v MSU Oregon v Kansas MSU over UNC Oregon over Kansas MSU champ
