Again, he's like 16 years old! (hyperbole but you get my point). HE'S A YOUNG KID still, he is growing up, and will probably continue to do so. But he does have undeniable talent. He just needs the stuff between his ears to continue to grow! (not saying he'll ever be the answer for a franchise, but it's too early to write him off). He's had his moments, he just needs to get smarter and play more consistently. I will say though, thank goodness we are not relying on him anymore, we have good plan b and c options (esp. if we re-sign Fitz) .... and we should add that video you posted is from a long time ago. He's matured a lot since then.

I'm not a fan of his and I will bever be, he will never get it and he won't grow up, that is who he is.

Your a man of god, you know what the scriptures say about what pollutes a man, it's not what he takes in but what comes out of his heart.

That's not immaturity what you see in that video.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Geno either, personally. lol
I didn't like him as a player since we drafted him, my point is just that he still has upside, and he started to win me over a little bit (with the emphasis on LITTLE lol) before Fitz took over. So my opinion has changed a bit on Geno from his most recent games. But I agree he's still prob. not the answer long term. Just too soon to tell is my point. ...... but I also don't think Petty is close to being ready either. We're a win now team, and frankly, Petty has that look of a good college QB but not quite the Pro type. Hope I'm wrong but I think Petty is just a marginal prospect.

...just real quick, you brought up the religion (I get my 5 min. to respond!), but what you said does not reflect what the Catholic Church teaches, so real quick: according to the Church, we were all created good by a loving God who does not make mistakes, but He also gave us free will. There is also a Spiritual reality that is always operating "behind the scenes", in our hearts (at the level of the soul). Love changes hearts. People can and do change. The spiritual battle is between the Spirit of God (His Angels) and the Spirit of satan (demons). We are all, myself included, affected by demons (as evidenced by some of my posts lol!). With free will, we need to surround ourselves with good influences, go to Church, pray, read Scripture, etc, to create an interior environment for ourselves (in our soul) that will invite God (the Holy Spirit) and displace any demons we may be dealing with......I know my response is getting long, but in the case of Geno, even if he's been dealing with demons in his life thus far, he can change that by the decisions he makes; and what myself and a couple other posters have been saying is we see signs that he's starting to get better, change his behavior, mature, etc... ... btw I'm going to cut and paste the religion part into the religion thread in case you want to continue that discussion there.

I think Gailey could develop a system to make a turd a satisfactory QB. Anyone know what amount of $ RGIII is asking?

Yeah but Gailey has been more successful in the past when he's had Fitz as his QB, and not just here in NY.

I'd feel better with Fitz QBing the Jets than RGIII, but I think there is some intrigue for how RGIII could play here with Gailey as the OC and for that reason I'm not totally opposed to him. I'm very curious what his asking price is as I can see it being anywhere between 1-2 mil and 7-8 mil.

Excellent feedback on that point. Imagine those big targets, plus Amaro, and 2 running backs that can actually catch a pass, roaming around while a QB that is a real threat rolling out and running can do to any D.[/QUOTE]

Actually 2 years is a fair judgment. A QB who was that bad his first two years almost never turns it around. And in a way, it's been 3 years for Geno. Bowles handed him the job last summer, and how did he handle it? He didn't pay back money he owed to a teammate, taunted said teammate over it, and got punched in the face. Nobody deserves to get punched like that, but in the end, Geno blew it. Good QBs are good leaders and good leaders don't do that stuff. Maybe Geno's changed, but most don't (just like most bad QBs don't become good).

I just wanted to highlight his lack of humility, no one should be standing on a bench looking for that type of adoration, that's it.

Geno Smith 100% has maturity issues but showing a gif of him celebrating a last second win in his first career start is one of the worst examples you could have possibly picked

Yeah I don't see the correlation in posting that gif at all.

I've found that the best stat for objectively evaluating QBs is DYAR (Defensive Yards Above Replacement). It's the closest thing football has to baseball's WAR (Wins Above Replacement). Since 2010 (when Chan Gailey became the Bills coach), these are Fitz's DYAR rankings:

    2010 - 23, 2011 - 19, 2012 - 23, 2013 - 21, 2014 - 17, 2015 - 13

In 2013, Geno was 43 (i.e. worse than several backups) and in 2014, he was 32. In all fairness, Fitz was 37 and 33 in DYAR in his first two years as a starter. But Fitz is much more the exception than the rule; almost never does a QB who plays below replacement level his first two years become a productive starter. And a productive starter is what Fitz has been the past six years.

Of course, you can argue that Chan will turn Geno around as he did Fitz, but if Fitz can be had for a reasonable contract (i.e. closer to what the Jets are offering than what Osweiler got), I wouldn't take that chance.

As an aside, RG3's DYAR ranking dropped from 11 his rookie season to 32 his second season and then 42 his final season as a starter. Not a good look for him.

If your going to compare stats then you should post Fitz first 2 years in the NFL to Geno.

I don't see Fitz first 2 years in the NFL stats. Just see when Chan took over as Bills coach. I didn't know Fitz was drafted in 2010?

Do the numbers 37 and 33 ring a bell to you? I posted them right there. Fitz was bad at first. He got better. Geno was bad at first too. Will he get better? Most don't.

42 to 32 for Geno and 37 to 33 for Fitz. About the same really.
