FYI for everyone. Per Over the Cap, we have 2.5 million in cap space and a rookie pool of 4.8 million. Thus we will have to cut/redo deals to gain 2.3 million just to sign draft picks. Thats signing no one. Clearly, we are talking to Fitz(explains our "hard line") and others so expect some action on current player contracts or cuts.
As we've seen MM likes to wait things out and do the money cuts last minute. In other news ... Ryan Clady looks like a cap casualty in Dnever if he won't restructure meaning we could cut Brick save 9 mil and sign him for a lot less
I've mentioned Clady earlier a couple of times, but the problem with him is that he has missed most of the last 2 seasons. It won't do us any good to sign him if he isn't able to stay on the field and actually play. I think I'd rather go with the Beachum kid from Pittsburgh. If Clady is healthy, he could be awesome, but the big questions are is he healthy and can he stay that way?
If Clady is signed Brick won't be cut. You can't bank on a guy with that injury history to be a starter. It'd be nice go see a player like him brought in on the minimum though. I think all of our moves are being held up by at least signing an NFL tackle with NFL starting experience. They can't cut Brick and/or Breno and sign a quarterback without some sort of NFL experience at tackle on the roster.
The last I heard was he left the Jets facility without a contract. He is visiting Jacksonville Monday. That can't be good news although it's possible he likes the Jets offer and is simply seeing if Jacksonville can beat the offer......this would be a great signing.
Why would they want RG? They have Bortles. They need a back up. Why would RG accept a bench role behind Bortles even if they did offer more? Doesn't sound like Denver wants RG either, right? Did he go there, is he going there? I don't think Denver really wants Fitz either, btw.
I know. I was talking RG. I'll edit it if it's misleading I just threw that out there about Fitz. I don't think Denver really wants Fitz, or really wants RG either. [other post edited]
Okay, nevermind me. Lol. I wasn't following the whole thread. Fuck me, I mighta thought I was in the RG thread lmao
They might but we don't know what the Jets offered. I'm sure they figured D'Brick being released into the equation along with some other restructuring numbers not yet made public.... Unfortunately warm weather and no state taxes may be the killer here...
Mac must have a plan in place if he's planning to pay Fitz and looking at other FAs. Maybe he's already discussed the restructure with Ferguson.
After a certain amount of dollars we were bidding against ourselves. No excuse for having over 50 million in cap space and not leaving anything for the next year unless we were on the cusp of a SB but we were actually coming off a 4-12 season.
2 years, 10 mil with the option to cut him with no dead money after the first year sounds like a great contract to me. Gives us a chance to move quickly after a disaster season but still able to retain him and not sign him to a huge contract or watch him walk if he has a bounce back year. That said we have a better chance of competing with Fitz next season.
Finally someone who gets it, this will go down as one of the worst contracts, but not to worry if the Jets need a favor from Mevi$ he will surely do what's best for the team...lol
Signing Cro and Cumby last season was a bad move even with the lack of a 2nd year guarantees--this would be 10mm available this season on the rollover. Add the Harvin signing 2 years ago and we're talking 20mm available for 3 guys who should not have been signed according to a lot of guys on this board and who have been proven right. The Revis signing is not the issue IMO.
