The point is we got 3 good years and a 3rd round pick from an undrafted free agent that we paid next to nothing. I believe you're overestimating the trade market. Teams are paying good money because they can/have to but I doubt they'd be willing to pay big AuND give up a first rounder. If it were that easy there's a good chance Mo would be gone by now.
The "smart team" is being written up for making terrible moves. They have a great line but at what price$$$?. How do we win the offseason headlines after only signing one top flight getting to the top but not over the hill player? You should check out what Eagles, Dolphins, Jags, Raiders, Texans, Titans, Giants, Texans, Broncos did. Only time will tell but your way costs in an extra 3-5 million a year and a draft pick.
I respect the hell out of Damon. He did a hell of a job. He's a good player and worked his ass off for this pay day. He deserves it. All of my fellow Jet fans should check out the New York Jets Facebook page. Snacks did a goodbye video. Very great to watch and shows how great of a guy he is.
Thank you for posting that. I wouldn't have seen that otherwise. Really cool. I was already happy for him, but now even more so. He left the division so there's no hate. I will always love Snacks.
Wait are people actually upset we didn't give him $30 million guaranteed? I love Snacks and it sucks that he had to go but that is just way too much money for a NT. We've pretty seamlessly gone from Jenkins to Pouha to Snacks so hopefully we can keep that going there.
I think we now know what his value is, and we couldn't afford it. Good for Snacks and his family - He was a good Jet and I wish him the best across town.
Yeah, how anyone could dislike this man for his decision, based on what we know of him, is beyond me. Check out this video he made to say thanks and goodbye to the Jets and their fans. He must say the word "thank" or "thanks" close to 50 times. https://www.facebook.com/damonharrison43/videos/vb.208392352534990/1135400493167500/?type=2&theater
That's it, we couldn't afford him. Under a different set of circumstances, with the cap and our roster, signing him could easily have been an option. The best players get paid.
As long as we play the game right, we should get at least a 4th for Snacks, possibly a 3rd. If Fitz signs elsewhere, he's a likely 3rd. The assumption is that Forte will cancel out Ivory unless we have a lower FA that signs elsewhere and qualifies to offset Forte.
I think I agree with you now. That's why initial reactions/emotions are rarely right; after reflection and analysis I think I now recognize that our moves have been good so far. So I am even "warmer" about the Forte signing today, and losing Harrison...I think I agree with you now. Thinking more about our defense, which is being shaped into one predicated on speed, Harrison, being an old-style physical "plugger", combined with the fact that we also have Wilkerson, Richardson, and Big Cat Williams, Snacks was a bit of a luxury. Plus, speaking of team speed, a valuable asset in today's NFL, Forte helps with that as well, plus his hands and versatility. So yeah, I'm a happy camper now.
I think Khiry Robinson is a potential 1200+ yard feature back if used properly. The Saints always used him as a backup/platoon man with Ingram and Pierre Thomas. But supposedly he's got good upside, so I would have been OK with giving him a shot, with Powell as a good backup/receiving option and a 3rd/4th round RB from the draft. ... but I understand that, aside from fantasy football at least, Robinson is a relative unknown. But I'm OK now, on 2nd thought, with essentially trading Harrison for Forte....we now have great depth at RB, the most injury-prone position, so that's a plus. Even if Forte, at age 30, gets hurt, we should still be OK.
Sign Terrance Knighton or Paul Solai they both have the experience as NT. Granted Snacks is younger But we can' t keep everyone. We need a sign Mo to a long term contract to free up some cap space.
