I'm not either. I would be skeptical of that move and disappointed, but am going to choose to trust Mac until he clearly proves that he doesn't deserve to be trusted, and that will take more than one mistake.
And if they made the playoffs at 10 wins, as most seasons would, you think that offer would be different? Mac: 'well we made the playoffs, so we have to up the offer 3M'.... GM's don't approach things like fans.

Just go look at Kaepernick's splits on passes thrown behind the line of scrimmage. No picks and about the same completion percentage and YPA as Tom Brady over the same period. Kaepernick's game has degraded over the last two seasons because the 49ers offensive line has been a mess, with many injuries/retirements, etc. Their offensive playmakers have gotten older and less effective. They lost Frank Gore last year and the replacement got injured about 6 games into the season. People are nuts if they think Kaepernick is not capable of being a high quality winning QB if he's well supported. Chip Kelly doesn't like certain player types and so he is more than willing to put Kaepernick on the market. If the price is something we can't keep anyway we'd be nuts not to investigate and pull the trigger if the opportunity arose. Not a draft pick. Something that we *cannot* keep anyway beyond 2016.

If we deal for Kaep, that won't bother me as long as the compensation is Mo. I will be much less happy trading two draft picks and still having Mo.
I know you guys know our O would be great along with our good D, we would be able to finally at least get to a super bowl. This is the same Colin kaepernick that led his team from being down 17 points in the NFC championship, the man has prove. That with a good supporting cast and good D that he can succeed, it's time to get him and finally make us contenders
Great point, but if the team truly does trade for Kaepernick, that would definitely lower my excitement for the 2016 season and beyond.
