You let Mo go and all of a sudden it's Richardson, Williams and... ??

I understand we have depth, but we have a LACK of depth if we let one of the best DEs walk. It all of a sudden becomes an area of weakness. And I'm not willing to let that happen just so we could get Colin freakin Kaepernick.

With incentives it is a bit better, I read it was 6-7 and could go up based on play.

Daniel signed a 3-year, $21 million contract. So if Breer is correct, I guess that means the Jets offered Fitz $7.5 or somewhere thereabouts, maybe $8 million. If so, bravo, Mac!

Richardson and Williams aren't slouches lol. You're acting as if mo is the only great player on that line, we would still have 2-3 good players and decent ones behind them

The Jets offered Fitzpatrick what he is worth at the tail end of his career. Gutty vet with diminished arm strength who will be a backup in a year or two, maybe this year if the Jets actually pull the trigger on a Kaepernick trade and pull their offer.

The Jets are the only team in the NFL where Fitzpatrick knows he is the starter going into camp. There is no other situation where he couldn't lose the job to somebody else.

Suppose so. But in my mind Kap is an INT to McKelvin when it counts himself also.

Has he gotten better? I don't know. I haven't followed him and honestly don't know

So you don't think the Jets are offering Fitz any more money than they currently are if Fitz won that game, sends the Jets to the playoffs, and makes the pro bowl?

You let Mo go and all of a sudden it is 2 1st round draft picks at 3-4 DE and a NT in between them.

Do you really think the Jets can afford to keep 3 3-4 DE's with their talent situation at LB and QB and TE and along the OL?

This talent base is still aligned to Rex Ryan's priorities and as we saw in Buffalo last year Rex's defensive priorities are so 2009 at this point. The NFL has evolved into a Spread league. You can't beat the Spread with a 3-4/46 hybrid consistently. You can't beat it by blitzing DB's relentlessly.

And I ensure you that modern sports writers carry the highest level of integrity as shown by Edward R. Murrow.

And that's not to say there's acrimony. Jets have told Fitzpatrick they want him as the starter. They just set a price, plan to stick to it.

Fitz keeps playing hardball and he might end up having to "compete" with McClown & a rookie in Cleveland for peanuts. At that point his fancy agent Jimmy Sexton would be fired for fucking Fitzpatrick over at the expense of his other clients. The stakes are pretty damn high in Fitzpatrick camp right now

It's more about taking a hit in one area of the field for a potential downgrade from what we already have in the other. And by what we already have, I mean Geno.

    Kaepernick is just not good.

Nope. Kaep has no touch. All throws are fast balls. He will struggle in the short passes.
Really not a fan of this move. Would rather rg3 and not too high on him either

I think our biggest win of the last 2 days is that we play the Browns in 2016 and they've spent 48 straight hours shitting all over themselves.

    1-0

No. You and maybe some other folks in Orchard Park might have convinced themselves of this, but it's just a nice little daydream.
