The end of season performance is really making us forget how bad he was earlier in the year. IF we wants to come back on a cheap one year deal , that's fine, but there's no way he deserves a Bradford contract(and if we're being honest Bradford is much better than Fitzpatrick). I'd rather roll in with Geno/Petty/ hopefully a rookie QB than Fitzpatrick 12 million plus.

It should be obvious that the Jets have not (yet) offered Fitz enough to get him to sign. And at a minimum he thinks he might get more by entering FA. So, having entered it, it is also obvious the Jets might lose him to someone willing to pay more. I think we all agree on these generalities. Of the possible teams who might make that offer, who are they?

Fwiw I have doubts despite their cap space that the Rams would be that team. I think they think Keenum might not be that far away, which means they would not be on board wanting to pay Fitz to start any more past where the Jets likely do (definite for 16, after that you want flexibility and to avoid paying too much guaranteed money to Fitz). Add in that they know on O the Rams are not going to have the same talent at the skill positions, that they do not have an OC who seems to fit with Fitz as well as Gailey, that Fisher likes his Qb's to be conservative and not (this is Fitz's rep with them) as a gunslinger. And more in the area of intangibles, remember that the loss to Buffalo in week 17 was widely televised. This would not control the Rams's FO, but their fans saw that game. We all know it was a team loss, and much was on the CS as well. But they all saw, the last time they saw Fitz, him have a pretty poor performance to close out the season. For all these reasons I tend to doubht the Rams go after him.

More likely is Denver IF they do not sign Osweiler. Who else? Cant see The Browns in this one.

Says here if Osweiler stays in Denver, Fitz most likely comes back to the Jets.

We could be lucky that the majority of teams are locked in at qb.

Why didn't we give Fitz a two or three year deal when we signed him?

That may have been short sighted.

Fitz will re-sign. There's no other market unless the Texans steal Osweiler.

Exactly, it seems like these guys on here forget that he threw 4 game ending picks this year, or that he threw 2+ picks in several games, or that is terrible play cost the jets 4 games. They forget these things and just zone in on "31 tds! Wow!" Its idiotic.

Calm down AJF...no reason to use the "C" word.

    Not yet at least.

You seem like an angry little man. You also seem to forget about all the good things Fitz did. Why does the mention of Fitzpatrick make your little dick shrivel?

Hindsight. You have to wonder how much more the contract with Fitz would have cost if it included giving the Jets had an option to extend. Even for one year would have given them a lot of leverage right now. Oh well...

I don't believe we all of a sudden have a "window" just because we got to 10-6 one year with aging vets. Will hurt when Marshall and Revis leave? Sure. But I fully believe Mac brought those guys in here so that he didn't end up being like Idzik and wanted to be competitive now. Clearly Mac is also trying to fill the team with talented younger players behind the older players. He has been successful doing that with Leonard Williams and hopefully Mauldin and Devin Smith become good starters for us too.

I don't think it's forgetting so much as recognizing that the history of the league is littered with bad QB's who have had good years. There is no reason to believe that last year was not an exception for Fitz and it's the QB he will be going forward, and it was his career before last season that is the aberration.

Fitz's best years were when he was with Gaily, so I do think that is a reason to think he'll continue to do well. That and he has very good receivers to work with.

    I don't think he's worth $15 million. Fuck that.

Mostly, I was just busting on the little guy though.

    Haven't you heard?

    Hindsight is 20/20.

    He signed for what?...3.2 mill?

    Year 2 would escalate to what?...5 mill?...6?

You'd sign him in a second for 8...

I just hope we don't get too fucked in this scenario.

GeNo starting scares me a little bit.

At this point...I'd rather we put Petty out there.

Part of what is hurting the jets right now is the Bradford contract. Hard to foresee that this time last year.

    But I share your concern.
