Please! Colt McCoy is Chad Pennington redux. The first time he attempts a pass on a windy day in NJ, the ball will blow back in his face. The guy has no arm whatsoever. Let's forget about about bringing anymore weak armed QB's here.
Pennington always got us into the playoffs..... Was he perfect? No but he did more with less talent than a lot of qb's.....
Always? Got to playoffs 3 times in 6 years. No not perfect, but that imperfection was fatal, he had no arm. That deficiency was magnified even more during playoffs when the Jets had to play the better defenses in the league. In a way it's sort of tragic. I've always maintained that he could have been one of the greatest QB's to ever play. He had everything else you needed. He had the size, was smart, tough, good looking, humble, hard working and was one of the best ball handling QB's I ever saw. But he could get no zip on the ball, and in the NFL, that means you're toast. Colt McCoy has the same problem.
Its a great spot for RG3 as I have said before. He's a spread QB and Chans offence is hybrid spread. Not to mention Petty was a Baylor boy too so the comrodary will be solid. I think it might be a better option over Fitz the more I think about it
nah, if we are fucked for missing the services of ryan fitzpatrick our pants were half down to begin with
It would depend on the contract. If he's willing to take an incentive laden or short term deal, then I'd be fine with him signing.
Here's another possibility to consider: Josh Freeman. He's relatively young - 28, big - 6'6", solid - 240 lbs, has a strong arm, and is surprisingly mobile for a guy his size. He put up great numbers his first full year in TB. Then there was a coaching change (Schiano) and things started to go south for him and he lost the job to Glennon (who didn't fare much better). Was it him or the coach? TB ended up firing Schiano after only 2 years, so I would have to give the benefit of the doubt to Freeman. Then came the Minn. disaster where he was asked to start a game as soon as he walked off the plane. Was out of football for one year (2014). Last year he backed up Luck in Ind., started one game and won it, although it was the last game of the year and against Tenn. I think Griffin has the bigger upside, but if the Jets are looking for a cheap long term FA QB solution who doesn't have a history of injuries, Freeman may be worth consideration.
Curious about RG3. I haven't watched a lot of NFC football (or Redskins games). His stats generally looked OK to good from 2012-2014 (when he was injured). He hasn't played since 2014. Why were the redskins so down on him after his injury? Why do so many people think he stinks?
I don't see what the problem is. The upside to signing this guy is immense. And if he continues to flop, who cares.... you just cut him.
