Could the Jets Pick in the 1st or 2nd round be a CB?

I don't think many, if any, of us would want that. I'm certain that there would be screaming and gnashing of teeth. One poster (Ozymandias?) even swore he'd break a bottle over his head and video it. LOL

Well, we might better get prepared for that possibility. There's something to be said to drafting from the strength of the draft. The DT group is said to be the very best group in this draft class. There's no need there, and I think Mac knows that the fans would riot if another DT was taken in the first round, so I don't think there's any danger of his taking a DT high. He might take one in a middle or lower round for depth, however.

The CB position is the 2nd best according to Mike Mayock. With Revis in decline, a huge cap hit for each of the next 2-3 seasons, being able to be cut after this season for a huge cap savings, considering the need in Bowles' D for strong CB play, and with Cro's replacement being questionable, we could very well see a CB taken high.

We know that there's usually an early run on CBs, and so we won't have a shot at Jalen Ramsey, and probably won't at Vernon Hargreaves, Mackenzie Alexander or Eli Apple either. Following his Combine performance, we may not have a shot at Houston's William Jackson III, either. Would Mac think that any of the remaining CBs are BPA in the first or second round? I hope not, but it is a possibility, and perhaps even a strong one, especially if one of the players mentioned above falls.

Ramsey or Hargreaves have real talent, I wouldn't be too upset about it depending on how the board fell

Of course it could. We took a Dline last year when it was a position of strength, and it had much greater depth and overall talent than our CB core does now. Revis is advancing in age and on a very expensive deal, Cro was just cut, we have some young talent that can play, but adding more young talent there would not be an issue. It would allow us to dump aging expensive players when the time comes. If a CB is far and away the BPA it makes sense.

I don't think the Jets will pick a CB in the 1st round, but I think one could be drafted later. Rashard Robinson is a very intriguing prospect to me. In his 1st start of his career at LSU, he had to cover Mike Evans and held him to around 50 yards as a true freshman. He has great height and length for a CB and looked extremely fluid on the field at the combine. The 2 big negatives for him are that he needs to add weight to his frame, and teams need to see if his head is on straight after being kicked off of the team at LSU.

Really want to sure up the LB corps but CB is an area of need so if one of the top guy's fall I would be happy to have him.

Heaven forbid we get any contribution from a CB already on the roster that we drafted 9th overall just a few years ago.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do take a CB within the first 2 rounds.

    Hopefully at good value...

Thats the key here. If someone falls than he becomes BPA. We just lost Cromartie and Revis is no spring chicken. Hopefully then we role with the draft pick, Marcus Williams, and Buster Skrine as our awesome future corners.

I tend to agree but if they have a LB and a CB similarly ranked I really hope they go LB.

I would still go LB even he is graded slighlty lower than the CB. We need fast LB's.

If any of the top CBs don't fall to us in the first round, I don't believe we will take one in the second round, I think they will simply go with LB, Olineman, and maybe in the 3rd take a CB or a safety, Bowles likes to use safeties as LB, at least he did in Arizona.

I think that exacting science of the BPA thing is way overblown.

I truly believe they have guys coupled with very similar grades, not numbered strictly 1 to 350, as if player 20 is a CB and player 21 is a rush OLB that they wouldn't take the rush OLB.

Oh no, can't take the OLB because the CB is literally one player better!

I hate the phrase best player available... It should be most valuable player to your team.

I don't think it would be a bad thing at all. In fact I've been trying to learn of the top corners in this draft, because in the next 2 years, it's bound to be a relatively big need, and rookie corners typically aren't hot right out of the gate. It would be good to develop one for a short bit with Marcus, Buster, and him forming a very good top 3 for years to come.

I think it's very possible. In fact I think just about every position is in play.....as for as CB goes keep an eye on Jalen Mills if they go CB in 2nd round.
