You realize if we just find a professional punter how much better we'll be, just from a field position angle? _
who is gonna be that OLB? we surely can't afford one.. there aren't really any pass rushers that stand out in this draft..
we should've just let Mo walk and suck it up like any other team has to do when they lose big time players. We fucked up. If mac digs us out of this and we actually gain from it he's GOAT.
Mo is gonna eat up all our cap space during free agency, we have 6M. maybe after a few cuts we'll have 10-12M.. fitz and bilal will take that space up alone.. nobody is going to trade high draft picks early in free agency unless they want to look as dumb as eagles and rams last year.. then we'll trade Mo draft day and clear up his 15M that he currently is holding hostage, by that time free agency is done and there's nothing but old scraps left over. also the draft is so damn weak i doubt we get anywhere near what we deserve in return for Mo.. nobody is giving us their first unless we deal them our 1st too (IMO)...most are saying we'll be in the market for a 2nd and 4th for him. I'm not a GM of course.. i could just be way overreacting.. but i just don't see how the 2016 jets team will be better off. hopefully i'm just overreacting prematurely
I think that is all what Macc wanted so far. Give rights to other teams to talk with Wilk's agent about possible new contract and if Macc gets a good trade offer for him (late first for example), then will pull the trigger.
Not sure if it applies to Mo, but if we would receive 2 1st rounders for him, you have to take it. Take two OLBs and go to work.
With the Jets putting the nonexclusive tag on him it comes down to 4 outcomes. He plays for the $15.7mil cap hit. -Worst case scenario They work out a deal - 2nd best case scenario IMO. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- He gets a deal from another team and the Jets match - 3rd best case because it would probably not be as cap friendly as if they signed him themselves. He gets a deal from another team and they don't match and get 2 1st Rd picks - This would be the best case scenario for the Jets IMO. (These seem highly unlikely because most teams won't want to pay the price of 2 1st round picks.)
Me either, I see it as the Jets and Wilkerson gauging interest from other teams, seeing what type of contract or value Mo has.
IMO this is the worst case scenario. If a team offers Mo a crazy ass deal like 20M and the Jets for some odd reason match that, they would be stuck with that contract.
if mac cant get a deal done with mo's people, i think the colts are a realistic trading partner they have the need, cap space, middle of the round pick (18), a gm thats shown a willingness to trade first rounders, and they are trying to compete now
