Let's wait to hear the real detail on that ....my gut says Schefter was sniffing around and fishing for some easy prey
Listen Schefter has been all Tmz since he joined ESpN and did all those Bs visits to Weei with his theories during deflategate
Stop inventing facts you asshole! I'm sure money changed hands. But it is just as likely they knew there was money to be made by taking the photos found a buyer after.
Both of them made mistakes Schefter is being sued due to Florida law mandating patient release of medical records to news or otherwise public record.....his privacy was invaded when the picture went on Twitter w/o his consent
OR nurse and secretary....2 people who knew they'd get canned for this.....Schefter had to offer money in exchange for the breach http://www.miamiherald.com/news/health-care/article58721533.html
JPP is being a baby here, IMO. From the moment the firework incident happened, he was evasive about the details, even from his own team, purely for selfish financial reasons. You gotta own up to what you did. Now Shefter might be in the wrong here, but JPP needs to grow up. He's the one that mutilated himself costing him millions of dollars when he was about to sign a franchise tender of 14-15m right before that. It wasn't the pictures or the medical info that cost him the franchise tender, it was his own stupidity.
my understanding is that the hospital has already been in court for the photos, I believe they have settled. the workers who took them were terminated. schefter doesn't have to worry about hippa, he does have to worry about the invasion of privacy portion though. and I honestly hope he loses. the monetary value on this is 15k so its not about the money its about a hole "journalists" using underhanded tactics to do shitty things to people. at some point someone has to put their foot down on these assholes and hopefully this will be what really gets the ball rolling. don't get on jpp for this, he is doing this for the right reasons. not for any monetary gain. but do get on schefter for being a douchebag.
Huge violation of privacy. Schefter drastically overstepped his journalistic bounds when he stole this information. Hope him and ESPN get wrecked.
I don't think we, as fans, have the right to know anything. But in today's day of celebs putting stuff out there--who the fuck are they to control what we see? If you want to be private, if you want your life to be private, don't take the riches, don't take the adoration, don't take the lifestyle. And don't do something stupid that could end up on the internetz. If it's out there and someone posts it--good for the fans. I WANT to see that embarrassing photo. _
I mean not only that, but there are plenty of celebrities and high profile athletes that manage to slide under the radar for their entire careers. Derek Jeter is a perfect example (and I'll say I'm so glad he has disappeared unlike some former Yankees *cough* Mariano *cough*). The only thing anyone knows about Jeter is he fucks tons of supermodels, doesn't let you bring your cell phone or camera into his house, he may have herpes, and he gives you a gift basket when you're done blowing him. All of these things are only known by those deeper into the Internet like us. If an athlete truly wants to be private they have the money to do it, they just all rather be in the headlines when the going is good, then they're quick to blame the media for harassment when something goes wrong.
Yup. Fuck them. ODBJ is trying to do everything he can do to be in the public eye but when some skank puts a pic of him going down on her he's like "it wadnt me!" As long as the reporters aren't stealing it themselves, post away. I WANT to see the embarrassing stuff. _
Is that a legal thingy? So if a hospital employee illegally stole medical records and then leaked them to a news organization/journalist/reporter, said news organization/journalist/reporter "stole" them? Sounds about right. _
