The Star Ledger has an article with 6 OL the Jets might consider in the draft. Let's use this thread to discuss potential OL. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2016/02/nfl_combine_2016_6_offensive_linemen_who_could_int.html#2

Nick Martin, C (Notre Dame) - Mangold's eventual replacement [In the 8 or so snaps I watched vs Syracuse in their video, he whiffed on two of the blocks. Doesn't look very impressive to me, but 8 snaps isn't enough to judge. (Why is Syracuse wearing gray uniforms with red helmets when their colors are orange and white?)

    Connor McGovern, OG (Missouri)

    Shon Coleman, OT (Auburn)

    Taylor Decker, OT (Ohio St.)

    Vadal Alexander, OG (LSU)

    Tyler Johnstone, OT (Oregon)

Surprised Jack Conklin (OT) MSU isn't on the list.

Yeah, the writer focused primarily on mid and low-round picks. I think that's due to Mac's own words that he thinks a quality OL can be built with mid and low-round picks if one drafts wisely.

Conklin, Decker, Spriggs and Clark are four OTs the Jets could consider.

Their colors are Orange and blue. The helmets are a very bright orange, can almost look red, depending on the tint of your TV.

They have jerseys and pants any combo of Orange, blue, white and gray. Helmets are Orange or Blue or White.

Nike decided to do a bunch of alternatives.

Don't like the grey, the rest of them look ok.

NCJ loves his OL men! That's all he wants for xmas every year lol

I'm not high on drafting OL in the early rounds and I read somewhere neither is Mac. There are so many raw gems in the later rounds and even in Undrafted free agency.

I'd rather restructure Brick and roll the dice on a raw guy we can groom under Brick for the next few years.

Thanks. Couldn't figure that one out.

Incidentally, I saw a movie on Ernie Davis last night. I had never even heard of it before. Was just flipping the channel and it was coming on.

I drafted him in round seven in the draft game and got a B+ for my trouble.

i mostly agree, except left tackle. have to use a high pick to get a good one most of the time.

The Express. Our only Heisman Tropy winner (because that POS Notre Dame undeserved media creation Tim Brown stole it) and first black winner of the trophy, Ernie Davis.

Ben Schwartzwalder was a massive personality on campus because of all the racial stuff going on at campuses in the late 60's early 70's.

I didn't get there until fall 1977 and I only met him once. He was a huge figure back then.

LT is the exception to a certain degree. There have been gems in the later rounds too.

Now if a stud like Ronnie Stanley falls to us then grabbing him and cuting Breno would be a no brainer. Not only for next year at RT but down the road he could step in at LT

Stanley won't get out of the top ten.

IMO, the best possible eventual replacement for Brick at LT would be Conklin or Spriggs at #20. Cut Breno and let either play RT for a year or two. The problem is I doubt the Jets will cut Breno not knowing if their OT will be available in the draft. I've seen a lot of Decker and believe he's not going to be a NFL LT.

Interesting. Since he was an instrumental figure in helping integrate college football, I think it's interesting that Schwartzwalder has "black" as part of his last name (it means "black woods" or "black forests" in German).

My grandparents on my mother's side were born in Austria.

Schvatza was a derogatory word for blacks back in the day.

    Sounds racist.

    It likely was.

    Sue my ancestors. Don't care.

That looks like Yiddish or perhaps some Austrian/German regional dialect. Hoch Deutsch is "schwarze" for black.
