I wouldnt think he'd be here as a CB, unless he would sign for the vet. minimum because of our cap. Even then, I dont think there'd be room for him. Gilmore and Darby as starters, Robey in the slot, with McKelvin as our veteran spot starter. Unless they are getting rid of McKelvin and swapping him out for Cromartie to save some money (McKelvin makes about $4.5m).
I hate giacomini's play, but cutting him only saves about 1.3 million, with about 4 million in dead money. not sure you can find a better free agent for 1.3 million or less. with all the o-linemen riding the bench, one of them needs to step the f up And Ferguson's cap # is 14 million, 5 of it would be dead money
no. he gave out contracts with little guaranteed money past year 1. cro wasn't guaranteed shit. mac did pretty well.
They cut him like they cut a man for vasectomy. At least this one wasn't botched. Cro can't impregnate the Jets! Anyways, thanks for your service Cro...I now await your psycho wife to bash the fans and franchise. Best of luck being a Dad for the 14th and 15 time. So long.
He gave out a contract that allowed us to cut him after one year with no dead cap space. How is that a bad contract?
I'm gladed that TB was not so enamored with him that he asked MM to keep him, time to find another young player via the draft to replace Cro. Who's next?
There is no way Giacomini gets cut, if he is cut the jets are left with Winters and Williams as the only 2 offensive lineman with experience, that would be the worst right side of an oline in the history of the Jets. Giacomini had one really bad game, and I blame Gailey for not giving him help against JJ Watt. Other than that game, he and Mangold helped Winters to look respectable and not make a fool of himself as our RG. Find a LT in the draft to eventually replace Brick, find a RG in free agency and keep Giacomini, the oline will be ok this year.
Marcus Williams is ready to be a full-time starter in Cro's place. He was like #3 in the league in interceptions last year, despite playing limited snaps. Revis was very impressed by him, and was surprised to hear he was in his 2nd year and not his 5th. He said something like, the sky is the limit for him. As for next cuts, I think Ivory. He's very good, but he's not going to stay healthy. He'll be too expensive.
cutting Breno saves 4.3M in cap tho. i'd expect putting that money toward a replacement in FA if we went that route. i certainly don't think he's worth the 5.6M cap hit he currently has. it's been more than 1 bad game. agree regarding drafting an OT. preferably a guy who can compete at RT, and transition over to LT as Brick's eventual replacement. one of our biggest priorities for sure.
His cap hit is that big? I thought it freed up 1.3 mil, or close to that. I have to do some research.
i like Williams and think he's ready to start too. has great instincts. Ivory will walk in FA, as Snacks may as well unfortunately. in terms of cuts, i think Cumberland is next. Breno too, as he's the next easiest cap target after Cro with a 4.3M savings. Brick, Marshall and Mangold have bit cap savings numbers, but we aren't ready to move on from any of them, so Breno is next imo.
