I havent posted for a long time for professional reasons and lack of time, im a bit out of college football this season so there for i would like to know how deep is this draft talent wise , and wich positions are deeper. Any draft info or opinions i would apreciate , also how this QBs are rated compared to Jameis Winston or Mariotta as prospects not how both performed in the NFL . Thanks for your attention
Winston and Mariota are head and shoulders above any QB this draft. RB is somewhat deep. OL is looking good. Kind of a weak year for WRs. DL and LB are very strong this year. CB and S have some talent too. Two of the best prospects to come out in a long time in Ramsey and VHIII.
Winston is 2nd Best QB Prospect In Last 10 Years Behind Luck. Mariota and Goff round out the top 3. Winston so far is in a class of his own. Deepest position is DL. You got some big time difference makers at LB. You got maybe 2 or 3 edge rushers. You got a lot of question marks at the offensive line position, but they have high ceilings.
Gotta disagree regarding Goff. I don't think he's even a top 10 prospect. He doesn't have an NFL arm and is too thin.
Weak QB, WR and RB class overall. Pretty strong for OLB and OL which are needs for us, so that's great.
You're the second person that has said that this will be a strong draft for OL, yet everything I've read said that this is a very weak class for OTs. Supposedly, there are only 2-4 LT prospects and even the RT prospects aren't that great. I haven't heard or read any ravings about any of the OGs or Cs, either. How is this a strong draft for the OL? Who do you think are the top OL prospects?
I think he shares a lot of the same similarities with Teddy and Mariota, but he doesn't have the foot speed of a Mariota and the ability to read defenses as sharp as Teddy. He doesn't have elite arm strength by any means, but he's very accurate as well. His arm strength IMO is right on par with those 2 QBs above.
I think his arm strength is about on par with Teddy but I think Mariota has a bigger arm than either of them. _
Winston, Mariota, Bortles, Carr and Teddy are all better than anyone in this class. And maybe I have my green glasses on but I like Petty more than any of them too. I'd also wouldn't bet that Mett doesn't end up better than any of them too. _
Yeah I can absolutely see that - he just needs to fix his inconsistencies throwing down the field, but Mariota should be OK with practice. He needs help over there in TN big time. He has like 1 or 2 weapons at most.
So overall it's a weak draft class like 2013? Cuz people don't seem so exited for this year's draft as the previous two
Seems that way but it is still early. If some guys get freakish scores at the combine the excitement level could kick up a notch or two,
I think it is weaker than last year. That said, I don't think that totally explains the lack of excitement. Last year was Mac's first draft, so there was a lot of excitement. This year, Mac has his own scouting team in place, and while the jury is still out on him, I think that more of us like and trust him so we're not as keyed up or anxious about the draft as we have been in the past. I know I was much busier this past college football season and didn't have time to watch a lot of games or follow prospects. I've seen several others say the same thing who normally are much more active and post more regarding the draft. I think it's a combination of factors.
I think people were excited because of the QBs last year and the QBs and WRs the year before. Two positions that we were sorely lacking in. This draft doesn't have the top end QBs (and we don't really need one) and the star quality WRs-the flashy stuff- so the discussion is more muted. We need OLine help- how jazzed up can you get talking about tackles and guards. And we need LBs and while there is some quality there we don't have the super studs to agree to disagree about. It's a different type of draft this year. Not that exciting but some quality. _
The real value in this draft is at OLB and DL (again). The QB's are early 2nd round prospects but two or three will get taken in the first. The Jets will have an OT/OLB decision at 20 and there should be somebody decent there for them. It's possible the BPA at 20 will be a DL or DB and god help Mike Maccagnan if that's what he's staring at. It really sucks to know that your perfectly sound approach just can't happen because the team can't go that route again due to past picks. Maybe we'll see Ezekiel Elliot slip to 20 and give the Jets a really interesting choice.
i don't see no reason why we can't take another db or dl, especially if mo is playing on the tag. the 1st round is for adding talent, period.
I say the 1st rd pick should be BPA... no matter the position, unless the difference in rating between 1 player & another is so minimal then the position may also be a factor.
