It looks like I'm the only one to go for the QB option. I like the idea of someone with a high ceiling riding behind Fitz for a couple years. Where do you see the qb of the future coming from; Smith (lol jk), Petty, Free Agency or next years draft? Every year we push back a qb from this draft is one year less he can develop. As much as I wish we were. We are not one step away from being a superbowl caliber team.
I could have sworn I had saw Smith at 230 somewhere. I guess he isn't undersized, I see him listed around 240. Some have him as an OLB and others ILB too. He doesn't scream 3-4 OLB at me what so ever. 1 sack in all of 2015.
CBS has him at 240 already, which imo is the perfect size for an OLB. I think Rex's preference of having them at 270 or bigger is nuts. As I said, I don't know much about Smith, so you may be right. Most of the posters here seem to see him as an OLB however.
Agree that Myles Jack's the better prospect than Jaylen Smith. My "e.g. Myles Jack" reference had to do with Jack shutting it down and concentrating on getting an early start to his rehab compared to Smith (let alone the greater severity of Jaylen Smith's injury).
Conklin or Decker would be great picks for RT but I'd have a hard time passing up on Jaylon Smith or Ezekiel Elliot.
I agree that we are not one step away from being a superbowl caliber team. I definitely would love for us to add a great QB prospect. The problem is that I'm not sure that there really is one in this draft that's night and day better than Petty. Goff? Too thin, not that strong of an arm, and will likely be gone before the Jets draft. Wentz? My favorite QB prospect in this draft, but he probably will be gone as well. Lynch? If the Jets really like him and think he has the potential to be better than Petty, fine. I'll be happy with the pick if he pans out and will appreciate Mac trying. I'd also be very happy if Wentz was the pick. The problem is to quote an old maxim, that "one can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse" and with some QBs it doesn't matter how long you give them to develop, they won't because they just aren't that good a prospect to begin with. I'm just not sure that there are any QBs in this draft that will develop into quality starters. Wentz and Lynch may have the best chance, but neither may be available when the Jets pick. If Wentz had been in the poll, I probably would have picked him, but he wasn't.
Petty is better than anyone in this draft plus he's been in the league for a year already. One full year of development under his belt. _
Eze E all the way! This kid can do it all! He is a perfect fit for this offence. Runs hard through the hole, can catch, block and make space for others.

I agree. I don't really care for any of these QBs. If we had Denver's D last year we could have won the SB with Petty behind center. Upgrade the D and find an OL WR and RB. I have a big crush on Sterling Shepard and Jordan Howard at the moment.
Something about Floyd just rubs me the wrong way, why isn't he bigger, 6'4 230 for OLB in a little light. Yea he can add weight but that could effect his speed and his ability to play comfortably. Is keeping on the weight an issue because unless he's freakishly strong it's going to be a problem in the league. He's already 23 going on 24 in so I think if he was going to add a significant amount of weight he would have gradually done so already so he isn't going to add much more. Lean pass rushers haven't really been successful Maybin and as mentioned above Mingo have struggle. I'll watch and evaluate Floyd some more but at this point don't really love him. Put a gun to my head, I'd pick Sua Cravens
Usually agree with u Stokes but idk about that, Wentz is pretty nice don't love Goff but I think he's better too, Lynch on the other hand I see bust all over him.
I am so in the fence about Wentz--he could have massive upside but he might completely bust out. Petty IMHO has many of Wentz' tools, just a couple inches shorter. And he's been in the system for a year. I don't think Goff has an NFL arm--nor an NFL body. And while he's being touted as a super-accurate QB I never bought it in the games I watched last year. If the FO loves Wentz I'd be on board, as much as I like Petty. But I'm not sure spending the 20th pick on a guy when we may already have him on our roster when we could use an OLB or a Tackle--is something I'd do. _
Wentz could bust, but with his tools and success, albeit at a lower level, I'd be surprised. I'd love for the Jets to add Wentz. If both Petty and he worked out, the Jets would be set at QB for the next few years, and they could possibly eventually trade one to another team for two first round picks, or at least two high picks.
Wentz is not very good, IMO. I haven't seen a medicore QB prsopect get this kind of hype since Geno. I'm not high on Petty, but I'd rather him as QB for next season and figure out the problem at QB in 2017; taking any of these Quarterbacks in round one would be a disaster. The only one that is semi intriguing in late round 1 to me is Paxton, but even he struggled after his breakout performances.
240 is terribly small for a guy that will be taking on 315 pound tackles in the run game the first two downs and some times doubled down with a tightend. Ware, Suggs, Dumervil, Julius Peppers, Ryan Kerrigan, Justin Houston, Tamba Hali, Brian Orakpo, Connor Barwin, Clay Matthews are all 255+, most 260+ except Matrees and Houston. The only players listed below that given weight is Von Miller and Khalil Mack whom are both really exceptions to the rule with the quickest first steps in football, and even still Miller is 249, Mack is 247. 240 is about the weight of inside linebackers or coverage 4-3 linebackers. You're guys are gonna get blown off the ball if they're 240 or less in a 4-3. Most 4-3 linebackers can beat tackles with quickness because they have the luxury of playing off the ball and can beat the offensive lineman to the spot, not to mention 4 lineman in front of them. 3-4 OLB line up face up on the tackle and while they can beat them with quickness they can get mauled more often than not if they're not big or strong enough.
To me the perfect size for an OLB is 250-265. That's the range. Don't want below or above in the 3-4. Your comparisons do help but there is one thing you must take into account. That being that those weights listed are after NFL weight programs. Floyd could get up to 255 within one year of being in the league. It's not guaranteed however. I've seen Floyd at 229 before. That's scary, however he seems to be moving up. What will be interesting is his combine.
