Forte could be a great fit in Gailey's system and the price will likely be less than what Ivory is going to want. It may be worthwhile to take a look. The only concern is that he's 30, but he hasn't really declined that much yet.

I disagree. Last season was the worst of his career. He is more brittle and was less effective when healthy. All of his numbers were down. I hope the Jets won't even consider him.

This is true but he only played 13 games. His YPC was higher this year than it was last year. If I had a choice between signing Ivory and signing Forte for half the cost, I'm taking Forte.

Denver would be a tough assignment but we have a QB who can make adjustments, has a fast release and is used to being hit as well as a bone crunching runner in Ivory and a WR in BM that can catch contested balls. As long as we didn't give up any 6pt turnovers then I don't think they'd have much success with Peyton '16 trying to beat us.

Having said that we'd probably lose as we wouldn't be able to apply any pressure from the edge and our special teams would see us locked deep in our own half nearly all game.

Only AFC team I really feared (had we made it) was the Steelers with that offense.

Well he was and is a poor route runner and a terrible blocker could be that is why he wasn't used.

Kerley is an outstanding route runner, that's the best part about his game

I understand you reasoning for that, but I don't want either. I appreciate what Ivory contributed to us, but I want a younger RB with fresh legs, who hopefully can stay healthy. Ivory has pretty much proven that he can't stay healthy and carry the load for an entire season, and Forte can no longer do that. With Powell also having injury issues, I think it would be asking for a repeat of last season where we were down to our last healthy RB at the end of the season. I'd love to see the Jets re-sign Powell, draft a RB, and then also sign a young FA or camp cut RB who is on the younger side.

he had 16 catches for 150 yards on the season. he couldnt crack a WR rotation that features an injured rookie, banged up youngster, and hyrid tight end. we were desperate for 3rd and 4th Wr production, he couldnt hack it.

he was the star or one of the worst special teams units in all of football.

    how is he not trash?

    0 produciton on offense
    0 production on special teams

His past seasons indicate that he isn't trash. He isn't the best punt returner, but he isn't garbage either. The garbage special teams had more to do on the defensive side.

Lol at using this season as any justification. He was BENCHED when healthy. He would have had A LOT more than 16 catches and 150 years had he played on a consistent basis. Even in the games he did play at WR, he was productive. Why he benched the majority of the season (besides special teams) is beyond many of us.

You'll likely get your wish in terms of Kerley being cut, but it won't have anything to do with talent, but apparently not fitting into Gailey's offensive scheme for whatever reason.

I am sure he would have had a lot more yards if played him and threw him the ball instead of trying to win by giving the ball to Ivory or Marshall.

I swear we need an expansion team for Geno Smith, Kerley, Aboushi, Qvale, and all of the other crappy players that get too much love on this board.

Kerley is far from crappy just cause he isn't a #1 or #2 receiver.

The same Qvale that the Jets are high on to replace Breno? No one knows how good or bad he is anyways.

You guys keep saying that no one knows just how good our bench scrubs can be then they fail when they do get a chance.

If guys slip to the late rounds or go un-drafted and they fail to earn playing time during the season sure they could be great but odd are that they kind of suck.

how do his past seasons indicate he isnt trash? he has topped 50 catches once. he has topped 600 yards once. he has never scored more then 3 touchdowns in a season. his best season was when he was the #1 target here, and all he could muster was 55 catches/800 yards/2 tds. and that was on 100 targets. and that was several years ago. he isnt a 23 year old anymore. and his production has dipped drastically every season.

and the first year we have had real talent at WR, he finds himself out of the rotation. that isnt a conincidence.

sorry, but calling a guy who hasnt produced statistically, and couldnt get reps under the past 2 coaches, and who couldnt top 20 catches this year trash, really isnt a stretch
being benched isnt a positive thing. it isnt evidence of you being a good player. why do guys get benched:

    1) attitude issues
    2) not good enough to hack it over the guys on the roster

1 wasnt the case. he couldnt beat out injured rookies, cast aways from other teams, and converted tight ends. he wasnt productive because he wasnt good enough to see the field. you call those bad players.
a reciever who doesnt fit into a pass happy scheme that only features recievers is a really bad indication of who you are as a player.

kerley will never play WR in the NFL again. maybe someone takes a shot with him on special teams, but thats doubtful given his lack of production there as well. he will basically spend the rest of his career on practice squads and scout teams

agreed... kerly isnt crappy because he isnt a #1 or #2 reciever.

kerley is crappy because he isnt a #3 r #4 or #5 or #6 receiver.

I think JK is more of a misfit than trash WR. He's not great or even very good.. but he swims in the average/slight above average SLOT WR pool. Chan wants a speedster in there to take the top off of a defense and create more space and one on ones for decker and marshall and JK for sure aint that.. Only reason i say i don't mind Kerley is because our QB can't feed a speedster downfield so most teams aren't even scared of him attempting to throw it.. We all seen Fitz try to chuck it up when all else failed and those passes were all laughable offenses. JK has had his share of big plays and solid games.. Not all that but not garbage either
