I think McDavid went from 16th in the rookie scoring race to 8th tonight. 5 point night. Eberle with his first career hat trick.

McDavid should get the Calder even with all the missed games, not Panarin.

Mcdavid back at it, against an awful Toronto team. Man the Oilers need some defense.

Hawks have struggled without Panarin. Kane hasn't done shit without his play-making. Can't stickhandle around everyone as we saw in the Olympics. We'll see how McDavid finishes out the year. I doubt he cares about awards. Hes going to be a force for years to come. They need to build around him because he's going to make everyone better, except for maybe Nail in the coffin Yakupov

Weird part is that while the Oilers as a team have been lifted by the explosion of the second line (thanks to McDavid), the Hall/Draisatl line cannot get anything going.

Hall easily led the team at the break with 18 goals. Then McDavid came back (12 points in 6 games) and Hall has not had a goal since (0 goals, 2 assists in 6 games).

With Eberle's hat trick, he has now tied Hall for the team lead. At the break, he had 11 goals, but he's scored 7 in the 6 post-break games.

Trade Eberle for a fucking Dman, then plug Yakupov onto the McLine, pad his stats and trade his ass for another Dman.

    Get it done Chiarelli.

Anyone on the McLine is getting points, even sack of shit Benoit Pooliot.

    yes, yes, and yes

Pouliot has 2 goals and 8 assists since the break. Might be the best stretch of his career.

    22 points pre-break (41 games)
10 points post-break (6 games), averaging a little over 15 minutes per game

St Louis looking good with Schwartz back in the lineup. Really brought it to Florida tonight. Still not sure they can get over the hump but their defense is solid, even without Pietrangelo.

Devastating loss for the NYR. But LA might have suffered an even bigger loss if Gaborik's injury is enough to keep him out for a while.

    Montreal is toast.

    just to illustrate Washington's dominance:

they're at Dallas today and they're actually a slight favorite to win.

    Saw this on Yahoo:

NHL Stock Watch: Connor McDavid rising, Tuukka Rask falling
The Oilers top line is sizzling, with teenage sensation Connor McDavid leading the way.

    =============

Top line means the first line. Edmonton's first line is the Hall/Draisatl line. McDavid's line is the second line.

It's amazing how major sites post articles with basic errors in the lead.

Edmonton is not the only team that does this, either. Patrick Kane has been playing on the second line all season.

Hall and Draisatl were broken up. Always dumb errors on these sites. I'd gladly take the job

they just changed the lines today

now McDavid is on the top line. Ever since the break though, he was on the second line, with Hall on the top line.

    tonight it looks like

    McDavid-Pouliot-Eberle
    Hall-Letestu-Kassian
    Pakarinen-Draisatl-Purcell

    Yakupov on the 4th line

Purcell had been skating on the first line for a while with Draisatl and Hall.

    vancouver/toronto

one guy refused to fight so they called a penalty only on the guy who dropped the gloves

    can't recall seeing that before

Why would you drop the gloves, then?

Florida gets slaughtered tonight by Nashville. Was at the game. Crowd goes nuts whenever Jagr has the puck. Nashville seemed to anticipate everything the Panthers were going to do. Without Barkov they aren't capable of much

Dallas led 4-0 after 2, but the Caps scored thrice in the third and now we have a game

I was watching a little of that game tonight too. Panthers sure didnt look good.

A couple of weeks ago I was thinking they were a shoe-in for the playoffs. Now Im thinking they could be a team that could slip a bit.

Still would take a massive collapse for them to miss the postseason , but I do expect one of the team behind them right now , to eventually overtake them for the division.

Crazy that spots 2-10 are only separated by 10 points.

Florida is a cinch for the playoffs but it's more than 50% that they don't win the division.

Without Barkov they can't do much. Same when they're without Ekblad. Jagr can't do it himself. They had no legs tonight after the loss last night to St Louis. Not sure I like Bjugstad on the top line with Hooby and Jagr. The litmus test will still be Boston
