Kicking ass big time. I was delighted to see them win against Man City on the road. Heart vs Money, Small city against giants with big time sponsors. I know we had a Leicester City fan here before. Any other Leicester City fans?
Arsenal fan here...what LC is doing is just incredible. Vardy is becoming legend. Embarrassing that Arsenal can't win the league
It's changing up here...from 'hehe, we're top of the league, what a laugh' to 'oh, right, err, can we actually win the league?' Good luck to them. If LCFC can win the title...surely the NYJ can too?!
I really don't have a dog in this fight but if it isn't Leicester City, I hope Arsenal wins the league. It has been a while for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is a decent man. Racist
To be honest donkey, it is more difficult for LCFC to win Premier League than Jets winning Superbowl. Yours will be a true miracle if you ask me.
Sadly not mine, I support Swindon - we hardly ever win a thing (despite having win in our name). Our only major honour was secured in 1969 (a good year)...sucks that I wasn't born until '74! And of course I agree it's harder for Leicester to win the title than the Jets win the Superbowl, it just gives me hope that maybe even our SOJ can one day win the big show.
LCFC winning the Premier League would be the greatest accomplishment I've ever seen in sports. For them to be top of the league a year after being in the relegation zone, having a budget maybe a tenth of that of the top English teams, is just mind-boggling. Really rooting for them. The Jets have no excuse in a salary cap league in which everyone is equal. I think the salary cap is one of the main reasons the NFL is the most entertaining sports league on the planet. European soccer is dominated by the same 8-10 teams and the results are largely predictable, which makes this Leicester title chase all the more captivating.
Cant argue with this...but problem with NFL is 95% of the time to be great and win championships you need a elite qb. Soccer is more a team sport
Heart vs Money...... Small Town vs Plastic Bandwagon Corporate Manchester City.... That is surely how Sky Sports and NBC sell it? But considering City sold out Maine Road decades before and even when they were in the third division and in danger of administration, they hardly represent the "plastic club" the press sells them as now.... But City DO represent new investment and a threat to Established Big Four of Arsenal, United, Liverpool and Chelsea. And while established powers like Real Madrid and Barca are slapped on the hand for illegal player signings, City are fined millions for overspending their kitty once. That's if you believe the Financial Fair Play gurus/frauds (like Platini) who tried to pass laws disallowing new owners like the Sheik, then immediately changed them when Inter Milan wanted new investment. European football is built on hypocrisy. At least American football allows for a little parity. Manchester City is the ugly step child who doesn't know it's not supposed to achieve. Nicely put, and you're totally on the money about City, but Chelsea aren't really the established big 4. They are just the same as City but did it ten years earlier. One league title in their history prior to Abrahmovic coming in and spending big. Historically I'd say the big 5 English clubs are United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Everton. Others have had periods of success but these 5 are generally there or thereabouts.
I understand you my friend. Among the riches, City is the stepchild but still they come from the money. I will root for Leicester against any team that has rich Arabs, Americans and Russians behind them.
My son just got tix to the ACF Fiorentina v Inter Milan game on Sunday. Artemio Franchi Stadium is just a couple of blocks from his apartment. _
Tell your son he is a lucky bastard. Inter Milan has ex Galatasaray player Felipe Melo and is coached by ex Galatasaray coach Mancini. So I like Inter this year but they are far from their glory days. Also tell your son to enjoy Florence and utter the name Fatih Terim to any Fiorentina fan and tell him to tell you the response he got from Fiorentina fans so you can write it here. Don't worry Faith Terim is a Galatasaray legend who coached Fiorentina and kicked Milan's ass multiple times while coaching it so he is loved by Fiorentina fans.
You can think of it like Steelers-Ravens or any big rivalry in US sports. AC Milan was founded in 1899. After 9 years, there was a disagreement within the club and the people who left AC Milan founded Inter Milan. Both teams play in the same stadium(Giuseppe Meazza) like Jets and Giants. They hate each other. AC Milan has been more successful internationally. Especially in the 90's they had Ruud Gullit, Marco Van Basten and Frank Rijkaard. They won multiple European Cups and Intercontinental Cups. Inter isn't as successful as AC Milan but head to head they have more wins against AC Milan. When I was growing up AC Milan was the most dominant team in Europe. They trashed Bracelona 4-1 in 1989 Champions League Final and that was pure domination. I was 12 years old and I was mesmerized. If your son has to support a team in Italy, let him stick with Fiorentina. Juventus is a crook club just like the Pats. Inter is for losers. AC Milan slightly better than Inter. Fiorentina is your Jets. Perennial losers. AC Milan red and black stripes. Inter Milan blue and black stripes.
But do they play in the same league? Are they on the same level--like Yanks-Mets in major league baseball or is one of them a better level of play--like majors versus triple A? _
There are no league differences in soccer. Just 1 league. No playoffs. Whoever finishes the regular season on top is declared champions. Yes they both play in the same league. Serie A which is the premier league in Italy.
Got it. Little bastard is heading to Amsterdam right now, coming back Sunday afternoon and going right over to the game. _
