We need to look at receivers on the cheap end. Cooper wouldn't be a bad addition, but I imagine given his experience he'll get a bigger contract than we want to spend on our #3 target with limited space. Chris Givens from Baltimore might be a good guy to bring in. Some pro experience, and a speed guy that can allow Decker and Marshall to work over the middle and in the slot. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/chris-givens?id=2533532 His biggest knock is catching over the middle, but not lackluster hands in general at least as the profile reads. Interesting sidenote on Baltimore; looking at the free agent receivers they have 5 or 6 on there. Pretty sure their entire receiving core outside of rookie no-show Breshad Perriman are free agents. Leonard Hankerson is an odd case. A former 3rd round pick that seemed to be becoming the #2 in Atlanta before being placed on IR with a spotty hamstring, claimed and activated by the Patriots (released because he wasn't able to learn the system quick enough) and then on to the Bills where he didn't play. Seth Roberts is another speed receiver UDFA that played well as essentially the #4 receiver in Oakland. I imagine Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown and Dontrelle Inman return to the Ravens and Chargers respectively. Mohammad Sanu, Marvin Jones, Rishard Matthews, and Travis Benjamin will all get more money than we can afford to suspend. We're basically going dumpster diving and hoping to come out with something that isn't garbage in the slot.
Our Budget will dictate a lot of the offseason. Top priorities are Fitz Mo Harrison Richardson Powell. See how this plays out. No deal for Ivory Try to get your best players back IMO then go shopping if necessary
I like Travis Benjamin from CLE and Jaron Brown from AZ.. both could also return kicks.. TBH i wish we at least tried to mix kerley in with the offense. When he had to play vs philly i thought he did decent. He's not as fast as devin smith and more of a route runner than a deep threat.. which plays in Fitz's favor. That's just me though.. i don't know what he did to get in Bowles's dog house from the very beginning.
I totally agree. I like Jeremy kerley and its unfortunate he didn't get much playing time. My biggest fear is letting him walk and him signing with a team like the bills or dolphins and tearing us apart for years to come.
Benjamin will cost way too much. He had nearly 1,000 yards receiving with garbage at quarterback. I wish Kerley played more too, as he has reliable hands and is much better than anyone else on the roster. Unfortunately he's on his way to being cut.
NYG just released LT Will Beatty, MLB Jon Beason and OG Geoff Schwartz. Beatty intrigues me a little bit as I'd like to upgrade the RT (get rid of Breno) & he's probably dug in the NYC area as home (UConn grad as well). Problem would be $$ and he's been hurt a lot in the past couple of years.
Fr the right price Beatty would be a good replacement for Breno. Schwartz was a pretty sought after FA just a year or two ago
I don't know anything about Beatty, but considering that the Giants' OL supposedly wasn't very good, if true, and the Giants released their LT, then that doesn't speak very highly of him. If he's been hurt a lot, that could be the problem, but I wouldn't want to take that risk. An OL that can't ever play (or any position for that matter) because he's injured all the time is just a waste of cap space. I'd have some interest in Schwartz possibly, but not Beatty.
We can't take chances on overaged, underperforming linemen. Replacing Winters with those kind of players is crap for crap. I'd rather we draft some linemen later in the draft and build them into quality. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Giants O-line is AWFULLLLLL. If the Jets want to upgrade that line, they should check and see if Jahri Evans (G) is healthy. He was just cut by the Saints
kerley is trash, he wouldnt tear up the arena league. my biggest fear is wasting a roster spot on him
Lol, what? Kerley is FAR from trash. Then again, I don't know why I'm surprised. Your player evaluations are usually garbage....lol
Kerley had the nerve to show up to training camp 30 pounds lighter and 6 inches shorter than Quincy Enunwa. Chan Gailey never forgave him.
seems like everyday kerley was all over the jets website making nice very nice plays running deckerish type routes.. real sharp but smooth. Then next thing we know he's hanging his head speaking on his uncertainty about his future in green.
Joe Barksdale / RT / 6-5 326. Just turned 28yrs old in January, 2016. Barksdale was mentioned in GG forum last year. Instant Breno G. replacement at RT. 2011 - got cut after 1 starting season in Oakland that left many scratching their heads. 3 seasons in St. Louis starting the past 2 years. Despite a proven healthy capable track record as a starter, - he lingered in FA last year & was one of the final signees w/SD at about $1.2 million for the year. PFF said he was the best lineman on San Diego in 2015. Worst case scenario, I see us getting him for the same amount we were paying BG === $4 million/year. We have a lot of holes to fill, not enough picks in the draft and not enough cap room.
