Next step for Edmonton is getting defensemen. They're way too stacked at forward when everyone is healthy (which we could see when Nugent-Hopkins returns). They should trade one of their forwards. Klefbom is probably their top blueliner and he's missed a lot of time.
Pretty much. Nurse is (sadly) already the top D man right now. If the rumours that Shattenkirk is on the block are true, I'd be willing to part with RNH or Eberle for him. Also, Travis Hamonic wants to move closer to home and would be perfect. Still trying to fill the Chris Pronger void.
Shayne Gostisbehere is a stud. How he fell to 78th overall after Union won the championship is beyond me. Bright future for Team USA
Ovechkin with a sweet Shoot Out Goal to give the Caps a 3-2 win in New Jersey today. Good game. Devils seem better than before to me.
The defense of the Caps this year compared to other seasons is night and day. Trotz has been a god send for them. Really made them play both sides of the puck. Devs hung tough but I knew as soon as it went to the shootout it was over. Oshie and Ovie on the same SO lineup is basically unfair.
The islanders need to trade Hamonic to the Oilers, he wants to be traded because of family concerns. Hopefully they can make it happen.
Edmonton has the upper advantage in negotiating a trade for Hamonic. He said he wants to be closer to home. Lets review the options. Winnipeg needs to get rid of RHD, not add them. Calgary traded for a young RHD over the summer, so a trade for Hamonic seems unlikely. Vancouver, they are rebuilding. I don't really think they are going to give up a significant young player for Hamonic. Edmonton's the only landing spot that makes sense. If the Islanders can somehow get Nugent-Hopkins for Hamonic, they've done a very good job. RNH is a better player at his position than Hamonic is at his, and Edmonton has the upper advantage now that Hamonic has made this public with only a few teams he'd accept a trade to. Edmonton should hold firm on Eberle for Hamonic, and I think they could get the deal done. What other option do the Islanders have?
Match penalty to Simmonds was a joke, it was just a punch and McD got 4 minutes too, but how much does Simmonds get for throwing his stick at the ref?
Ok, but I thought a game misconduct when called by referee automatically gets you a 1 game suspension? No interview needed, that's how I thought the rule was called. Anywho, good call to reverse it.
He said its a personal issue though. He's not exactly a disgruntled player who's misbehaving like Drouin. I think the Islanders almost have to grant him his wish.
I understand it's a personal issue, but it's still a business, and he is benefitting financially because he is a good defenseman. So while I hope his family situation is manageable, the islanders can't come out of this on the losing end, while Travis and whoever he is traded to, get what they want.
Barkov takes a borderline illegal hit. Probable concussion. Will hurt Florida drastically over the next week at least. They lost 6 of 10 games last time he missed time
