9/11 has bigger resonance in the tristate area than elsewhere. Politicians from NY and NJ often overemphasize it because the local electorates were hit hard by it. In 2008 Rudy Giuliani invoked it so often that it lost a lot of it's significance in the national primaries. It's an event that should be remembered respectfully and with sorrow, not utilized for political advantage. Harping on it just makes a candidate look worse over time. A brief mention in a conversation otherwise devoted to national security is ok, because it was a huge event in US history, similar to Pearl Harbor in it's effect on the national psyche. However hammering on it right now 14+ years later is about as effective as hammering on Pearl Harbor would have been in 1955. It just makes a candidate look self-serving in most cases and particularly if they were in office in the area when it happened. What's important right now is not 9/11. What's important is the next attack and how to prevent it and respond to it if it happens. It will be nothing like 9/11.
He should have gone to the debate. It made him look arrogant and overconfident to skip it and Iowa made him pay for that. Yeah, Reagan skipped the debate but the last word anybody would ever have used to describe him was arrogant. I think Trump might have cost himself a real shot at the nomination when he skipped that debate. Now he's the guy likely to go in with 30% of the delegates instead of 40% and Cruz or Rubio will be the leader going into the convention.
I'm racist against all blue poo and red poo eaters. I will only eat Donal trump diamond encrusted poo poo.
You know, I stopped being all passionate and partisan and even interested in the political shit years ago, but this race is like watching a parody movie about a presidential election. I don't think I've ever seen such a murderers row of unfit politicians fight it out in such a pathetic and transparent fashion. I usually just joke about it, but I'm actually in favour of a government collapse at this point.
You planning to be BBQing people or on the spit yourself? Government collapse will turn into no food in the cities. Big hordes of people will move out into the countryside looking for food (has happened in every civilizational collapse in history) because the cities will be like a slaughterhouse and the people who are mobile will get out. Resources will be exhausted locally and then people will become food. Cannibalism has been practiced in times of famine in every country so afflicted. And we'd have a major famine if the government collapsed and the dollar became worthless over night.
