One of the most of underrated Jets, a true Jet...He worked his ass off and made plays. He had little to work with throughout his years but man to me since Wayne Chrebet left the team on offense he was... Mr. Reliable. Still annoyed we let him go to the Steelers in 2011, I know he had back issues but he never said anything bad about the franchise, was a great team player and did sacrifice alot for the Jets. Like when Cotch severely pulled his crotch in a season saving catch in the game against Cleveland on 3rd down & 9 in OT in 2010. This might be his farewell game coming up... http://nypost.com/2016/02/02/after-2-near-misses-with-jets-veteran-gets-super-bowl-shot/ Cam Newton certainly appreciates Cotchery’s contributions, in large part because Cotchery is defying the odds. “I heard Jerricho Cotchery was washed up 10 years ago,” Newton said with a laugh Tuesday. Cotchery still thinks about his time with the Jets — “I will always cherish my time with them,” he said Tuesday — but has more important things to do than get nostalgic about them. Namely, Cotchery wants to decorate a low-key career known mostly for its durability and reliability with a gaudy Super Bowl ring.
I loved Cotchery. It was a gigantic mistake letting him go. It was right around the time when Tannenbaum got too cute for his own good. What a threat on third down. Can anyone find the video of him catching the ball vs. the Pats I think in Mangini's first season where he got sandwiched between two defenders and never touched the ground got up and ran for a 60+ yard score?
Definitely one if my favorite jets of all time. He was Mr. Reliable for sure and a class act. No former Jet deserves a ring like that man. Can't believe we let him walk in favor of Derrick fuckin Mason's washed up ass.
“I heard Jerricho Cotchery was washed up 10 years ago,” Newton said with a laugh Tuesday. I guess the black QB statement wasnt the dumbest thing Cam has said this week. Even if it was only half joking , Cotch was consistent his entire tenure here. I dont think he got the washed up label until his year in Pittsburgh where they never used him. There are a lot of guys on the Panthers I think deserve a ring , Cotch , Stewart , Keuchly , Davis , Tolbert But because of their QB I refuse to root for them to win this game.
Anytime a black athlete plays the race card tells me all I need to know about the person he is. Thousands of white people pay his salary and he has zero problems using mostly white kids to enhance his character , yet people dont like his because he's black? Nah people dont like him because it isnt emotion that he shows when he gets a first down or scores a TD , its a "look at me" attitude. And to me that shouldn't come from a QB. Leave that shit to WR's and CB's. People didnt like the Seattle defense during their SB run because of their attitude. Not because of their color. But he's a QB so its different? Complete garbage. Outside of his play , is there a reason to actually like the guy?
I think he is a smart enough man out there and more importantly he can lead. Brett Favre was an ass with a ego too but people and his team's loved him. At least Cam is willing to listen and be a team guy... This notion on Cam is prob off topic for a convo in super bowl thread
Plenty of people hated Favre. A lot of athletes in general are hated. But only a group of them need to play the race card. Its annoying and refers to about less than 1 percent of why people dont like them. But no doubt white people who didnt like Cam to begin with , like me. Hear something like that , and say that it figures that he thinks that way. Tons of money , success and everything and STILL blaming the white man for the criticism he receives. Laughhhhhhable.
But no doubt white people who didnt like Cam to begin with , like me , hear something like that , and say that it figures that he thinks that way. Better? I guess a period instead of a comma really threw off my point. Forgive me it was 3am. Doubtful that you would agree with it either way though.
Im sure most Jet fans will. Like I said before , there are a number of Carolina players that deserve their success this year and deserve a ring. I honestly dont care who wins either way. Im just not gonna root for Cam.
This is one game where I'm totally ok with either side winning. Peyton goes out on top or Cotch gets a ring. Both outcomes are good.
