Trade 2016 to move higher in 2020 and pick a more viable candidate, I like that thinking.

I heard each time Hillary won a coin toss she elected to kick. Bold strategy, let's see if it pays off.

    Fuck him.

I'm not paying 50%+ of my taxes towards the IRS so ungrateful millions in this country can get free Medicare from birth to death.

    Fuck that.

ugh. You are a Dolphin fan. What do you know anyway? :) Okay kidding. I don't agree with his tax policies to be honest. As a middle class man, I am not paying for lazy bums medicare. I am with you on that. But at the same time, government can't ignore the poor and something has to be done. Between Hillary and him, I chose him.

I doubt you are in that tax bracket.

to get to 50% under his proposal you would have to claim between 2 and 10 million in your yearly income so us ungrateful bastards can go to the doctor. If you sir are making that much per year I apologize for being ungrateful to you but maybe you should use some of that money and hire a tax attorney so you can take advantage of itemized deductions like every other millionaire in this country.

    45.2%. That's insane for a bracket at only $500k.

Sorry for not having the exact percent.

For itemized deductions, its charitable deductions (i like keeping my money), mortgage interest (no house atm), real estate taxes (renting atm). Eventually I will buy a house but pay for the majority with cash. I take the standard deduction on my tax return.

Under the plan the actual tax rate for a person earning $500,000 a year would be 33.9%.

The brackets would charge them 1,131.55 on the first 9,275, 4,880.50 on the next 28,375, 14,552 on the next 53,500, 29898 on the next 99,000, 21,067.20 on the next 59850 and 98,000.45 on the last 250,000.

That's how a bracketed system works. It has to be done that way or people pay more in taxes for less income when they move up a bracket in a lot of cases. We've forgotten that this is how it works because it's been so long since we've had a really progressive tax system.

For a person making $550,000 the tax rate would be 34.9% as the extra $50,000 in income got taxed at the 45.2% rate.

For a person making $750,000 the tax rate would be 37.7% as the extra $250,000 in income got taxed at the 45.2% rate.

For a person making $2M the tax rate would be 42.6% as the extra $1,750,000 in income got taxed at the 45'2% rate.

Ok, so now we have the baseline numbers to look at. There are still exemptions, there is still the mortgage interest deduction, most of the itemized deductions that a family income of under $250,000 is eligible for are still around. The total deduction cap on itemized deductions above for families with incomes above $250,000 would be capped at 28%, meaning nobody would pay less than 11.2% income tax on incomes above $250,000. Nobody would pay less than 17.2% income tax on incomes above $500,000. Nobody would pay less than 24% income tax on incomes above $2,000,000.

For people below $500,000 or so the real trade-off would be free medical care.

It is unclear what the long-term effects of this type of bracketed system would be on the American economy other than it is clear that the flow of capital upwards to the top 1% would be halted in it's tracks.

Full disclosure: I believe my income peaked at just over $100,000 a year back in the late 90's early 00's. I was taxed more heavily under that system than I would be with a similar income under this one. I had a real Federal tax rate of 26.08% in 2000. My tax rate at my peak earning year would have been 23.8% under Sanders plan. Under G.W. Bushes tax cut my rate went down to 24.74%.

I have no idea how the NY state and city tax structures look at this point but I had a total tax encumbrance of upwards of 40% in 2000 and then Social Security and Medicare on top of that. For a guy like me Sanders tax plan would have been a godsend.

Just going to note that I was filing single and did not have a mortgage because real estate prices were out of control in NY and the 5 boroughs for much of the period when I was considering doing that.

It's possible that my overall position would not have been better under Sander's plan however I doubt it given that he's not taking away the mortgage exemption and many deductions related to families have been added in the intervening years.

I live in NYC...I get raped by the NYC City Tax every year.

Any nice refund flies out the window once I checkmark that box.

The one thing I'm pretty sure of is that the average voter will be much happier with their tax situation under Sanders plan than the existing system. What I'm not sure of is how the economy will adapt to the stresses imposed and whether people will actually be better off overall. I'll guarantee you that Sanders is not looking to screw the little guy and there is nobody else running for President this year in either party that I am 100% sure that is the case.

caucusing seems like such bullshit - why can't they just vote like normal states? It leaves too much room for human error and foul play.

Except in the case of Sirhan Sirhan and RFK in L.A. which ended up giving us babbling HHH and "Clean 4 Gene" McCarthy in Chicago
(even if the Richard M. Daly All-Stars -- Yippies football game pulled in a nice Nielsen rating) . : )

    - The "Mexican criminal/rapist" comments all but cost him the Hispanic vote.

    - As a GOP candidate he already has 2 strikes against him with the Black electorate, not to mention them understandably taking a dim view of his 'brown' Mexican comments (as well being Clinton-friendly to begin with).

    - Even if those State Dept. emails get her deeper into hot water, I think her kindred-party Prez will stall any Dept. of Justice action until after November....i.e. she's going to remain teflon with that.

    - While Trump threw her "woman hater" charge back in her face, look for the majority of the Fourth Estate (i.e. the media) to pick up the 'gender' slack on her behalf (let alone carrying water for the "she'll be the first woman president!" female candidate in general - much like it has for OB).

    - Lukewarm 'GOP machine' support (unless Rubio gets the nomination). Plus, there will be the undecideds who are sitting on the fence (but who are also scared of Cruz and Trump's heavy-handed vibe) who will pull the 'eh, what the fuck' lever for Clinton. I don't see any vice-versa scenarios coming into play.

    I'll explain that 70%:
    1. Trump: comments above.
    2. Hillary: coments above. As for the "Daughter of Sappho" crack, Sappho was a female Greek poet from the Isle of Lesbo<---get it? ....and who was rumored to enjoy 'grazing' herself.
    3. Hitler? Not on our worst day.....get real goat banger......
    4. Austria (Jorg Haider): while euro anti-semitism may've waned for a time after WWII, the austrian zeitgeist has always maintained a smoldering undercurrent of it.
    5. Turks: screw 'em, Kurd's the word. My interest in 'Turks' begins and ends with Turks and Caicos.
    6. pull my finger instead you goat AND camel-fucker (i.e. Muslim bisexual). :)
