I'm doing no such think jackass. I'm stating my opinion based on their physical attributes and from seeing them play. I totally admitted that I had only seen the one game of Wentz and have also seen the highlights video. Further, I said I could be wrong about them. You're just trying to make something out of nothing because you don't like me. That's why you're on ignore and are going to stay there. I made the mistake of looking to see posts by ignored posters and unfortunately wasted my time reading your lying, mindless BS. Go crawl back under the rock from whence you came.
Aww what's the matter, you can't talk to me now that everyone can read it? Pussy. You watched one game, a 37-10 blowout win over Fucksville State, and a highlight video. Your opinion is worthless.
I'll feel bad for Wentz if he goes top five. He just isn't as good as the hype. Wentz wouldn't have been this good at Cal,IMO . Cal has one of the worst offensive lines in the PAC 12, and Goff's smoothness and awareness in the pocket alleviates some of the protection issues that occur. In the UCLA and UTAH game he was under constant pressure, when has Wentz ever faced that kind of pressure? Wentz doesn't have that kind of sample size under pressure and when he has faced pressure, his accuracy has been miserable. I think Wentz would be thought less highly of if he had Cal's overrated WRS or poor OL. I don't see how Lynch is a bit of choker beause of one bad bowl game. He had some very impressive games and bad games, just like every other Quaterback in this year's class. I just don't see the hype. He's a one read QB, playing in clean pockets all game, against FCS teams while showing poor play under pressure. I think he's a good player, but I don't get why the media is trying to manufacture a top QB; there just isn't one in this class. Give him some time and he may be very good in two years or so, but then again you can say that about two other "top" Quarterbacks and maybe even some mid round guys as well, this year.
Wentz barely even got to play college football at all..... He didn't get a single D1 scholarship...... He only got 2 D2 scholarships..... This hype train everybody is on is insane......
Wentz is nothing special. He isn't even a top 5 QB prospect from the last 3 classes in my eyes. The fact he could go 2nd is insane. This kid going in the same slot as Mariota is hilarious.
Well said, as always there is going to be media hype and I believe this kid is all media hype right now, 1.5 years against lower tier competition is not an impressive resume. Not saying he won't be the real deal in the future, but the last guy the Jets took with limited college experience did not turn out to be a franchise QB. I think BPA is the way they should go and I don't think this guy will be BPA at 20th if he is there.
On the other hand, Dallas has been pretty good about staying away from the splashy pick the past couple of drafts. They could have had Manziel and they passed. Maybe they have learned their lesson, but Jerry still has final say so they might just pick him.
I see that as his ceiling, if he doesn't get drafted by the Browns or Cowboys - he'll drop to the Rams as the next target IMO
I doubt it. They've been one of better drafting teams in recent history. I could see them making a move for Goff though.
Pun? Jerre' seemed like he was just itching to nab Manziel the night of the draft. Left to his own devices he prolly would've. He dodged a bullet there, lol
You could certainly be right about all of the above. If Wentz is taken in the top 5 and is expected to start immediately and have success, then I feel sorry for him. I think he needs some work on his footwork, time to adjust to the speed of the NFL, work on reading Ds, etc., and would be better sitting for a year or at least initially. I haven't seen enough of either of the three QBs or teams to say for certain. My mind could change with more viewing and research. As I said before, my sample size with Wentz, Lynch and Goff is small. When I watch a QB play, one of the most important things I look for is the "it" factor. Again I could be wrong, when I saw Wentz play, even though he was rusty and coming off an injury, he looked to have the "it" factor. He appears to have it in the highlight videos. I saw some of that in Lynch in highlights of games, but not in the game vs Houston. I've only seen Goff a time or two, but imo he didn't impress me as having that "it" factor. Cook doesn't appear to me to have it, either. I could be wrong about all of them. With regards to Lynch, I didn't say that he is a choker, only that he seems to be. He didn't play well at all in their big game vs Houston, and even Houston's backup soundly outplayed him, but he may have been injured, sick, or simply had a bad day. Perhaps it was unfair of me to even mention it, but I was soundly disappointed in his play that game, and that's why I said "seems."
Lynch was like pretty much their whole team though NC. Not a lot of talent on that Memphis team and Houston outclassed them primarily on talent alone. Besides it wasn't the only big game he played. He tore it up for 300 yards and 3 TDs against an Ole Miss team that beat Alabama and might very well be a national championship contender this year
OK, thanks. I had forgotten about the Ole Miss game. I knew he had looked amazing in other games, that's why I was so high on him heading into the game with Houston. I didn't realize that Houston had them outclassed that much.
Physical diamonds in the rough (e.g. Snacks) are 1 in 10 finds in the bushes. QBs going from North Dakota State-level competition to NFL "speed of the game" level talent are 1 in 50. It would be crazy (esp. with Petty already sitting on the bench) to drop a high pick on a limited-tested, small conference rube. There are plenty of other, more legitimate BPAs to grab at #20.
That worked in 2008 when we took Gholston over say...Joe Flacco...I mean, we had Kellen Clemens sitting on the bench and Flacoo was a "small conference rube". I can only roll my eyes. I've been thru this with you guys for years and am usually proven right in the end. Wentz will be an elite QB in the NFL.
Exactly what have you been "thru with us guys" for years on end that you've usually been proven right about? That small-college QBs making it big in the NFL are not the overwhelming exception to the rule? As for Gholston, blame Tannenbaum for getting suckered in by phony Patriot interest in him. You might want to remember that Flacco was recruited by a high level D-1 program (Pitt Panthers) and was being weaned as the heir apparent to starter Tyler Palko before transferring to Delaware. Wentz on the other hand didn't get any big boy D-1 bites and couldn't unseat the immortal Brock Jensen for two straight years even after redshirting his freshman year.
To play the devil's advocate here, Brock Jensen was leading that school to championships. I don't think it would've been right to bench Brock just because Wentz was the superior prospect right?
Fair enough, That's a fair point (ain't broke /no need to fix), the overall point though was that no D-1 big boy recruiters beat a path to Wentz' door out of high school unlike Flacco.
