Say no to Paxton Lynch!! He has a hitch in this throwing motion and he cannot make quick throws. No no no. No quick release. I've seen this story before. MIKE SAY NO TO LYNCH
Am I secretly Matt Miller? Wow http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2608172-matt-millers-top-5-qb-prospects-for-2016-nfl-draft
as intrigued as i am with Petty, I'd be happy to draft Wentz at 20. ....and i'd also bring back Fitz. we need a present day QB, and i want to hedge my bet on having a future QB.
If you are, I wouldn't admit it around here with the way people hate The Bleacher Report! LOL I don't get the love for Goff. IMO he does't have an NFL arm. His passes wobble, and I'm not sure he can make all the NFL throws. Granted I've only seen him play parts of two games, but I just didn't see the athleticism or talent there, and with his thin frame, unless he can add weight quickly, if he starts immediately, he'll get killed.
His arm is about as strong as Bridgewater. There are a ton of things to critcize Goff for including his arm and frame, but if Bridgewater's frame has been able to withstand NFL punishment so will Goff's. IF Ryan Fiztaprtick can start 16 games with his noodle arm, so can goff. Whether he'll be good or no remains to be seen, but I other major issues such as inconsistent ball placement , active feet which can hurt ball placement, and his performance aggainst Oregon where he seemed to lose composure.
How does his football IQ compare with Bridgewater? Bridgewater also has excellent ball placement (at least that's what his girlfriend tells me)
Within his offense he seems to be a smart QB capable of manipulaing coverage. I don't know if he'll he adapt to a more complex system in the NFL, though. WIth his medicore physical tools as you stated, he needs to be a quick processor. I don't know if he'll be that in another system so I wouldn't take him in round anyways. I like him in early round two or so. I'd give Bridgewater the edge easily in terms of IQ, because we saw it consistently in college with him.
Thanks. I just haven't seen enough of Goff to make any kind of accurate decision. I can see why some posters and the media really like him, but I wonder what the scouts and GMs think about him. I'm going to be very curious to see where he goes in the draft, although as we know, with the paucity of quality QBs in the NFL, they do get overdrafted.
If you draft a QB in Rd 1, you are pretty much committed to playing him right away. That means Fitz is the backup, Petty continues to wait, Geno looks for work. I would be okay with that, but it would probably mean no playoffs in '16.
Disagree. In the game I saw, he had very fluid footwork and set up nicely in the pocket from under center. Granted, he isn't very speedy but he has a strong arm. In my opinion, having a strong arm goes a long way. The other stuff can be developed. However, if you have a weak arm, it doesn't matter what else you bring, you will be eaten alive in the NFL.
Can't agree with this. He's big with a big arm. That's it. He has no other qualities IMHO that would make him even a serviceable backup. I think he's a really bad player. _
I think Carson Wentz goes number 2 overall to Cleveland he's the least flawed to me out if the big 3. Goff will still probably go top 10 and Paxton top 22 but we're not picking him, hopefully not I only really like Wentz
Here's some pretty in depth scouting video of some of the top QBs in the class. Some focus a little more on concepts and use older footage, but I found them all informative.
Goff does not have a noodle arm. He's reminds me a lot of Tom Brady actually in that he's going to fill out and get a lot stronger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hackenburg was one of the most overrated players in Big 10 history. The only reason he is even being talked about is because he was touted as a future #1 pick by the media as a freshman. Who cares about having a strong arm when every other aspect of your game is below average including accuracy, mobility, and footwork. His worst trait is that he watches the pass rush and doesn't keep his eyes downfield. It was actually funny to watch him get pulled in their bowl game (injury) and see his backup all of a sudden get the offense rolling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I saw him live in his first game of sophomore season. Let's just say his performance was jaw dropping. When he gets into a rhythm he's a machine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
