    - "I am not sure what point you thought you were making, or what the NY Times has to do with it.

    You failed in short."

Hardly. A three-term incumbent who handily beat Astorino in their first (2005) electoral mano a mano 58% to 42% suddenly gets waxed by the same 58% - 42% margin during their next go round in 2009? And in 2013, did this "fascinating" dichotomy between national/local carry enough voter clout to swing the pendulum?? . No Puff, the original 2009 turnaround was about a local pocketbook issue, period, and in 2013 the same selling point carried the day as well, not Bramson's national talking points the NYT might've helped convey to outsiders like yourself.

    - "As for your "knowledge" about this subject matter, I am not impressed. You quote Briarcliff Manor as conservative. In fact it voted for Obama over Romney at the same rate as Westchester County as a whole."

Nice piece of cherrypicking there - nyjunc would've approved: In fact I said:
"I am not impressed." ......maybe get over yourself Puff?

    - "In any event the way the Astorino candidacy won against that kind of national campaign by Bramson IS fascinating considering how blue West Co is in the national elections."

And that "is" because you say so? The NYT endorsed Noam Bramson. Now whose "fascinating" national campaign talking points are they going to give wind to as core campaign issues? Astorino won because of the 2009 'taxation without hesitation' backlash that still had legs in '13.

    - "In any event it's not changing demographics (whatever that's supposed to mean)"

Where did I use the word "demographics?" Answer: I didn't. Instead the word was 'ethnographics' (in my post to Dierking, and not to you) and which had to do with the political shifts that come with said 'ethno' changes. On a broader, 'Westchester' level, our Hispanic brethern now make up more than one in five in the Westchester which includes huge influxes in Yonkers which accounts for one-fifth of the county's population. In the case of Astorino, it's worth noting that he captured an unusually high percent (61%) of the Hispanic vote (read: pockebook, i.e. local taxes, not fascinating national hot button issues).

"Lessons about??"......"which as I said?" <------The par for the course narcissism aside, do you even hear yourself?

(the rest of your post is just irrevelent, rambling 'Big Puffer' listening to himself).

I find it funny when one side bashes the other side as being more evil and then say things like like "Trump is like Hitler".

Donald Trump may be a fucking boob but he's not anything like Hitler.

But if it makes one side feel better to say things like that, have at it.

It's ok, Nagle. I thought if you wanted to respond to the specifics of what I said, you would have said so. Since you didn't...

And I am not being smug. That would be stokes.

    How old are you? Ninety?

You never outlive that smug thing, I guess.

    I'm 56.

I'm not being smug, I'm laughing at folks getting in a tizzy about how the shit that is their shitty political party is less shitty than the other shitty political party based upon subjective, emotional and mildly delusional observations.

And then trying to use logic to defend the tizzy.

I can't blame you, I was once like you when I was a kid.

I will concede that despite especially in context the overlap between demographic and ethnographic, which I alluded to by saying "whatever", I should not have done that but instead used your term. BUt that is besides the point, as West Co voting can hardly be explained in terms of changes of that sort alone. The point here though is that West Co is still a predominantly white community, a wealthy one and one that in national elections overwhelmingly votes Democratic.

The reason you failed to make a point in your previous post was that your "point" was not one countering anything I had said. I never said that taxes were not an issue in the original Astorino campaign, the main reason you failed to make a point. In fact the point I was making was that it was local issues that allowed a Republican like Astorino to win despite Bramson's attempt to run a national campaign. And I know about the subject matter from a variety of sources, not limited to the NYTimes. For starters I have lived there for most of my life.

On Briarcliff Manor your sentence structure did not make clear you were speaking about the Republican parts compared to the Democratic parts. I didn't know there were such parts, and still don't for that matter. But I still felt there was a point worth making that Briarcliff as a whole went for Obama by the same rate as the county as a whole.

As for the rest of my post, it was where I made an argument why a wealthy community like Westchester votes blue in national elections. You misuse the word irrelevant, since the reasons why it is ARE what the whole post is about. You perhaps meant instead to say you don't like the points I make, or are not willing to attempt to counter them. But irrelevant? You don't understand the meaning of the word if you really intended to use it as such.

You also cherry picked and misrepresented the "lessons about... what I said" quote. What I said clearly was a reference to my OPINION that West Co is a fascinating case study. The "lessons" were statistics I supported with links. Your attempt to conflate them into a personal attack on me, saying I am a narcissist, is merely the latest failure by you. I did not say my opinions are a lesson. I cited the stats, is all.

Now, as to the Puff business. Well, I assume you don't like my politics, and feel comfortable using dismissive terms here when trying to maintain the faux appearance of engaging in rational discussion. Perhaps you even have scored points here with some weak minded fellow posters by calling me Puff. But I don't find that at all persuasive on the merits. All it shows is you feel comfortable engaging in a personal attack.

I laugh plenty around here, even on this thread. But I find people who use cynicism as an excuse for disengagement to be a bit sad, even pathetic.

I am sorry I have put you into a tizzy defending your everything is shit point of view.

Cynicism isn't an excuse for disengagement, the political process handles that just fine.

And I'm not in a tizzy, it's the teeth gnashing that makes it entertaining.

Maybe you should try some Neanderthal art on them:

Frankly I have to assume that is representational, although of what I don't know, and it looks rather abstract to our eyes. Interesting.

But there was only one party whose leader said "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president" and attempted to block every initiative taken without offering an alternative even years after the second term was won by the incumbent.
