If Amendola blocked the player, there would've been no penalty and nothing would be talked about. Blocking is legal in that situation (even though you rarely see it, and no punt coverage guy expects a vicious hit). What Amendola did is not. It's pretty simple, but good luck expecting a Patriots fan to grasp that fact.
The illegal "formation" that is banned from the NFL. 'genius' Are the Krafts having dinner with Goodell Saturday night? Maybe Goodell will be a Bowlen's house this time. Better be strapped with cash and a pair of kicks Getcha cameras New England ! **** Tuck this one away early See you later honey bun
But was not banned when it actually happened. Actually, this applies to both the tuck rule and ineligible receiver formation. Rule changes are not retroactive.
Guys, the arbiter of all things football, Bill Belichick, said this was a legal play. Belichick would never sanction anything underhanded or dirty. This is a non-issue.
That was a fucking fumble when I saw it live and it's been a fucking fumble every time I've seen it since. _
I'm gonna pump fake first. But if you hit me when I pump fake, it's not a fumble! I was tucking the ball!
After consulting scientific experts and his ouija board, Belicheat says the science is settled on the Amendola cheap shot.
TuckGate DeflateGate HeadsetGate SpyGate BlockOnaPuntGate SmartFormationGate I mean, there were some people in this thread arguing whether the act of a punt returner blocking is illegal? Whether it was a dirty hit is a separate question. But, really? You don't know that you can block to try and have the ball be a touchback? That's amateur hour. Every single time a fan of another team brings these up... it reinforces why the Patriots have been so successful. In everyone's heads. Fans and other players/coaches alike... ...and it's beautiful.
It reinforces one of two things. Either the Patriots have been cheating or they're in everyone's heads. And the proof is in the pudding (the former)
Literally everyone on the planet thinks the same thing. How is that not a fumble?!?! Amazing especially because it's way before New England became the NFL's darling.
I guess the NFL disagrees with the almighty shithead Bill Belichick. Shocking that they wouldn't just base their opinion on what Belichick has to say like you http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2016/1/...-block-fine-patriots-chiefs-2016-nfl-playoffs "Clean Play" - BB "Fine $20,000 but you can play" NFL VS. THREE GAMES! & OUTRAGE
And in typical patriots fashion, amendola refuses to accept any accountability for his cheap shot. He will appeal the fine (which should have been a suspension). Wonder where he learned that from? #patriotway #bradysabitch #kraftwasduped
Crazy year. Crazy play. Definitely BS, but certainly not the first screwy call for an official in the NFL. At the time that happened, the Patriots weren't the Patriots. They were half a football team that everyone felt like was past their high water mark under the Parcells era. Most Patriots fans are also Boston Red Sox fans and at that time I can tell you it seemed like no bounce ever went our way. We got insanely lucky there and Oakland got screwed, but the Patriots still went on and beat the greatest show on turf with a bunch of guys the announcers constantly joked nobody knew the name to. I don't remember what the spread was but it was a joke, nobody gave them even a puncher's chance. Also at that time, in my heart I never actually believed any team I followed would or even could win a championship in my lifetime. Weird fact: Of all 4 QB's tomorrow the reality is 3 of them were #1 overall draft picks.
