Don't you be mocking The Doof Warrior.

Seriously though, can't believe it got 10 nominations.

    Revenant was disappointing

I don't know how Leo gets this ...?

    Poorly retold Hollywood damaged story

Hugh glass is rolling in his grave

So much hate for The Thin Red Line...I loved that movie.

Best Movies I have seen this year are Bone Tomahawk, Ex Machina, Hateful 8, Revenant, Spotlight, The Walk. The summer blockbuster type movies like Mad Max, Star Wars, Creed, The Avengers were all pretty good but the over the top reviews and Oscar nominations for these movies are kind of a joke.

    Ugggh hated it.

Terrence Malick made a mockery of that novel. It was an exceptionally written story of the loneliness and brutality of war and he did his stupid over the top fantasy ethereal bullshit that lead film critics to label him a genius. Skipped whole main characters, marginalized others and promoted minor characters into leading roles. Awful.

He sucks. And all his movies suck.

I'd love to see someone redo that movie as a true war movie and not some concept film.

One of the best novels I've ever read made into one of the worst films.

The New World was also a piece of shit. How do you screw that story up?

And I absolutely refuse to see Tree of Life.

I saw The Thin Red Line when it opened on mushrooms...was put in a trance by the cinematography and narration...couldn't understand why everyone around me was getting up and leaving. LOL But yeah The New World and Tree of Life were both awful.

Leo walking was weird, couldn't buy that at all. Hugh glass never had a Native American son. I still don't understand what the girl was about, zero development there

Hardy was awesome, he deserve an award

Leo didn't do enough for me, not sure why he is getting so much love for this roll?

    The picture was nice

I saw it at 11pm and fell asleep a few times, so I probably need to watch it again.

I liked the movie all the way up to when Leo was on his own

Also the digital buffalo scene was weak. Digital animals and monsters suck. Give me some costumes or real animals/monsters. The digital stuff is weak

If these racist assholes want to argue that a black actor or filmmaker deserved a nomination then they need to state explicitly which non-black recipient didn't deserve it and they should replace.

If they can't say that then fuck them, they have no argument and just want to whine that it wasn't given to them even though it may not be deserved.

In fact, fuck them for thinking they are more deserving simply because of their skin color. Not just from white nominees. Why are they more special than Asian or Indian or Hispanic filmmakers and actors who weren't nominated. Maybe Straight Outa Compton isn't one of the best movies of the year and Will Smiths Nigerian accent wasn't the best performance. Oh, how racist a thing to say.

It is so tough, and I get where Spike Lee and The Rooney Rule are coming from, but I find them as racist as the other side. It was the Academy's decision that they felt who was the best of the best this year. You can't keep one out just so a black person can be nominated. If they deserve it, they will be nominated. Many people feel they should be nominated and are not. There are always snubs. Interviewing someone because of their color, to cooperate with a rule, is one of the worst things the NFL has right now. It is ridiculous. Many coaches of color are worthy and I truly feel none of them (Except for Mike Tomlin) got jobs because of the Rooney Rule. Everyone else got one because they deserved one. Simple as that.

He said because blacks make up 40% of the ticket buying audience, they should be better represented in nominations, starring roles, presidencies at movie studios and productions companies.

Because individual studios/businesses can collude to industry wide hiring practices that exclude candidates based solely on their protected class.

Only checked because I knew he was way off, Blacks account for 12% of moviegoers, Caucasian 63%, Hispanic 17%, Asian/others 8%

True, I figured it would closely resemble the demographics of the U.S. and it was almost spot on. Listened to the replay of so I could see what he really said and he said people of color are 37% of the U.S. and are 40% of moviegoers.

It still actually works out to 37% of moviegoers with him counting Asians, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and those of 2 or more races in with African Americans as people of color.
