haha believe me, i didn't respond to nearly all the inaccuracies, and let it go.
but you just kept digging it deeper.

create a new thread in the BS section, and we'll take it up there.
having lived in Queens, Manhattan, LI and Brooklyn, maybe me or others could be informative.
btw, the bolded part is a straight up strawman, which hasn't been argued by anyone.....and i think you know that.

Well the bold was really my only point..but like every point on this board it gets transformed into something different where I have to argue 10 different things at once.

I guess residential pride gets the best of some of you that cant bear to see anything even slightly negative about a place where they lived.

Pretty silly if you ask me.

I grew up in the Bronx, lived in Queens, on LI, and north of the City. Have commuted to NYC for work from all those places, and to LI for recreation, from all those places.

As far as I'm concerned it's the NY Metro area, and moving around throughout it really sucks, from anywhere.
But I believe people from outside the City and LI believe it's worse within that area. Imo it's just not. It all sucks, but it's what it is.
People from the within City object to people from outside that claim things from afar, or from impressions. Not saying you, or that that's your point. Just my .02 cents.
    Just sayin' :)

Ha. funny thing, I used to work with some guys from Queens who used to say things like they were "going over to Long Island" as if they had to drive over a bridge to get there.

my grandparents were born and raised in Manhattan, back when working class New Yorkers actually lived there and raised families.
spent most of their lives there, and that's where my Mom grew up there as well.

would crack me up when they would refer to the Bronx as upstate, Queens as the burbs, and LI as the beach.
i guess way back in the day that was the worldview.
    all relative..

And growing up in Nassau County, we never thought of Queens as being part of Long Island.

Pretty much. Its just my overall point of when people say they are going to New York City , they mean Manhattan.

I think some things are being lost in transition

To people in New York City

New York City = The 5 boroughs
    The City = Manhattan
Upstate = Anyplace north of Yonkers

To people in the rest of the World

    New York City = Manhattan
    Brooklyn = Brooklyn
The Bronx = Where the Yankee play
Queens = Where the airports are
    Long Island = The Hamptons
Staten Island..... well no one talks about Staten Island

Are you saying Staten Island isn't really New York City?

That's messed up, dude. They may be the drunk, obnoxious, drop-out brother but they're still family

i just saw that they are still talking about san diego staying in san diego, for now.... probably going to la in 2017.... and it made me think. these motherfuckers make them submit a year in advance if they want to make a minor change in their uniforms. they make a guy who changed his name buy the jerseys that had his old name on them but they just let these bastards figure it out as they go about where they are going to play.

Chargers having a year to work out a long term solution to stay in San Diego is a good thing. They have until next January to exercise their option to move, but reports are the Chargers should know within the next 2-3 months whether a new stadium deal is realistic in SD. If a deal can be struck for the Chargers to stay, it opens the door for the Raiders to move to LA, which would be the best possible outcome for all involved, because Oakland is a dump.

While SD has a lease through 2020, they do have an exit clause which allows them to leave at anytime. With the NFL putting in the one year deadline, it gives the Chargers leverage to get a deal done with the city sooner rather than later. It also gives the Raiders an extra year to work out a contingency plan to leave Oakland if SD does decide to take the LA option next year.

I would like to see the Raiders move to Salt Lake City and change their name to the Utah Stormin' Mormons.

I've got no stake in it, but I would think the NFL is better off if the Chargers stay in San Diego. The reason is I think San Diego is a better site for a Super Bowl than Los Angeles. I think most people who know the difference think so, too. LA is really a mess. San Diego is maybe not the most exciting place in the world, but it has some attractions, and less traffic (if still by most measures pretty awful - but not really awful).

Of course this is part of my view that the SB should only be held in San Diego, Phoenix, New Orleans, Miami and Tampa. But even if the NFL plays it elsewhere from time to time, like this year, I think San Diego will get picked more than average.
