I'm all for second chance and you are right people do change. However if I'm a GM and I have to run a multimillion dollar operation, I have to make a selection that will benefit the operation in a positive way for years to come.

If the Jets select him, Then I'm going to have to believe that they did a thorough background check and he is a new person, so I will support him as a fan, just like I supported Vick when he came here as a changed man.

I just don't want to see another post from Jetfanerd regarding a failed pick by the jets...;)

He cleaned up his act, not even close to Manziel and his party life.

He was tested on a regular basis after leaving OSU and passed every test they gave him and it was at least 5 different tests he was given.

He loves football and everyone makes mistakes, I think he has turned it around.

If that's the case then he won't be there for the taking, what is your take on Calhoun from Michigan State? He reminds me of JPP

I think he is a freak but he doesn't fit the 3-4. I see him as a 4-3 guy only. He never rushes from standing up or drops back into coverage. He is strictly a 4-3 D-linemen. Spence has more a little more experience in that regard but still this last year at EKU he was hand in the dirt nearly all the time. 3-4 rush OLB isn't really there for 1st round talent. Floyd is really the only one unless you want to put Jaylon Smith at OLB. Even then both are under 230.

For his sake, I hope he has. I can understand football players wanting to do pot, as it supposedly helps with pain and healing.

OTOH, I can't understand someone who hopes to play in the NFL using a party/recreational drug like Ecstasy. Their body is their livelihood. No one knows what the affects of using Ecstasy are. There are no guidelines or oversight in its productions, formulas can vary, and may stay in the body a while. I've heard of cases where people were poisoned and almost died or did die from using Ecstasy. I'm not an athlete and there's no way I'd put that shit in my body. I have more self respect than that.

I get that. I think any drug is a terrible idea ( I do not consider marijuana a drug).

However. I've grown up around hard drugs all my life. I was not and am not a user myself, I did not give in to peer pressure, I did not like what I seen these drugs do to a lot of people I care about, so I learned a lesson through them.

A lot of people don't have that type of self restraint to resist those type of peer pressure moments, its easy to fall into this trap and its extremely hard to get out.

I try not to judge someone because I have no idea where they've been, what they've seen, etc..

People sometimes just do dumb shit, I know I have, fortunately drugs have not been one of them, but it does happen.

As unfortunate as it is and as concerning as it may be, the true important thing of it all is that that individual finds a way to get back on track, learn, grow, and move on better than before.

I truly believe Noah Spence understood that and is now focused on being the best football player he can be. I'm rooting for the kid.

Not just because he was a former buckeye but because he's a human being trying to make something of himself even after making some really bad choices.

I hope he makes it and I think he will.

If he passes the interviews, his background comes back clean since that mistake, he should be a top 15 pick easy.

    IMO

I agree, I think after the predraft events, he will be a top 15 pick.

Calhoun is actually someone I like a lot. He isn't as athletic as JPP but I think he will be athletic enough for the NFL.

What I really love about him is his instincts and awareness.

He actually reminds me of MO in that regard, he just doesn't have the best technique in the world which may limit him his first year.

I think he has a terrific football IQ, with great instincts and an OK athlete. I don't think he will be a superstar in the NFL but I think he will be a very consistent starter.

I agree with your assessment of the lack of depth at OLB in this years draft, I'm not totally against some of the guys being projected to go top 15, but I'm very skeptical about guys who weigh in at 230lbs being drafted so high.

I think teams are afraid of a Barkaveous Minko repeat. If BPA on Jets board is Calhoun I think TB can work with him.

While he has not had any experience as an OLB, the same can be said about Sheldon Richardson, yet we saw him playing the weak side OLB position as the season went on.

If he is drafted, don't be surprised to see Calhoun line up at the weak side OLB position opposite Mauldin.

It will be like having Ware and Miller rushing the QB.

Haha idk about that. Calhoun and Mauldin being compared to Ware and Miller is a huge long shot. I really don't see us taking a Calhoun. I feel like there is no way he will be BPA at 20.

I know, I can only hope, but I do expect Mauldin to get better and build on his good season. He played sparingly and his impact was definitely felt when he was on the field.

if we can find someone to complement him, this LB corp could get dangerous very quickly.

I don't usually put a lot of stock in highlight youtube videos because you rarely see their negatives. But what I like about watching this video is that he made impact plays in many different games. Thanks for posting.

He did come up big in many different games indeed. Some crucial sacks against good opponents. What is impressive is he was tearing up 1st and 2nd round offensive linemen. He wrecked Brandon Sherff the 5th overall pick last year.
