Richards nice, low risk move, kinda of like Jared Stoll with the Rangers, stupidly let him go and its one of the reasons they have been reeling for a month
Jones for Johansen, not that Torts would trade with the Rangers, but I bet he would have asked for McDonagh
Caps have leverage, so I think they will look to trade some of their youth, with one or 2 NHL players that are not under long term contracts. JMO
If Ovechkin doesn't win this time, I don't think he'll ever win. When they get Carlson back, they have solid defense. Holtby has been the best goalie in the league. They're pretty damn stacked at forward, too. Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Oshie, Ovechkin, Johansson, Williams...
Absolutely. Carlson and Orpik. That would be interesting. It's early, but Mike Richards has looked good.
Justin Williams is a guy that I was clamoring for and I knew once he signed with Washington they were going to be a issue...I wanted Williams because he is such a X-Factor. Could be one of those big years for Washington, still as a Rangers fan I hope we can make it to the playoffs and healthy. It is a really different world. I also want to avoid Washington again haha
big difference Dent was on reputation/past performance, like when Jeter kept making ASGs (especially funny was when he got voted in and refused to attend the game). That was Dent's third All Star Game. John Scott was an Internet prank. The NHL has repeatedly tried to bar the "prank" players from the game. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...l-star-game-is-why-fans-shouldnt-have-a-vote/ http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on...cost-john-scott-his-spot-in-nhl-all-star-game
In 2007, the NHL likely altered the vote counts to prevent Rory Fitzpatrick from starting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rory_Fitzpatrick http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on...ar-fan-voting-in-wake-of-john-scott-selection
NHL didn't want to be embarrassed by they got embarrassed by that joke of a trade to push him away for the ASG
They are stacked..and if not for a terrible trade a couple years ago they could still have Filip Forsberg too. But as good as they've been I'd still pick the field to get to the finals in the East.
I would do the same. It's the Capitals, after all. I was just pointing out that this could be the best team they've had during Ovechkin's time. edit: if anyone is curious, here are current odds to win the SC and the East: NHL Stanley Cup Tue 1/19 7:05PM Washington Capitals +375 Dallas Stars +600 Chicago Blackhawks +700 Los Angeles Kings +700 Florida Panthers +1500 St Louis Blues +1600 NHL Eastern Conference Tue 1/19 7:05PM Washington Capitals +185 Florida Panthers +675 Montreal Canadiens +860 Tampa Bay Lightning +860 Detroit Red Wings +900 New York Islanders +950 New York Rangers +950 Field vs. Capitals would be -200 or so, giving Washington roughly 1 chance in 3 to win the conference (and something like 1 chance in 5 to win the Cup).
