I think the Jags are on their way to London or Toronto...their days are most likely number in Jville. But hey, they do have a swimming pool in their stadium.
yep, first season or two i believe they were in LA. the Jets were called the Titans, the Chiefs were the Dallas Texans. the first 2 years were a little crazy in the AFL, until the league settled a bit. i consider the San Diego Chargers an original AFL team, like Kansas City, although the cities weren't technically part of the 1960 league birth. all a little before my time, but there is a great miniseries documentary called Full Color Football, about the AFL. highly recommend for any football fan, especially those of AFL teams. i'm just glad Oakland isn't heading there. i remember the debacle in the 80's when they moved there, and it never seemed right to me then. was glad when they went back.. the league seems to forget that 2 teams bailed on LA for a reason... it's not a football town. putting 2 teams back there again doesn't make sense to me, and sharing a stadium just sucks. i don't get it. it should be the Rams only if they insist on a team.
the Oilers moving probably bothers me more than any other franchise, as they allowed Bud to take the history, logo, colors, etc......with him, only to change it all. wish the league pulled a Cleveland, and forced him to leave the Oilers brand in Texas. Houston Texans suck........should be the Oilers (although Dallas Texans were the original Kansas City Chiefs)..
Raiders are pissed off. Would not be surprised if they revisit San Antonio, who made a push last year.
the league is charging these teams something like 550M each as a relocation fee. should use some of that money to help get a stadium done in the Oakland area, so the Raiders don't also have to move.
It's a longshot, but I could see the St. Louis Jaguars. Then again, the Oregon Raiders doesn't sound so crazy to me.
Supposedly St Louis isnt too big on trying to get a different team to play there. Basically an NFL boycott.
Oh, that is just soooo wrong on so many levels. I'll keep my inappropriate comments to myself though. However, they were much more talented and entertaining than that '85 Bears video
You bet it is, it's like halfway to freakin' Portugal. Oh wait, I looked it up...the distance between Metlife Stadium and the Nassau Coliseum is...drumroll please...the grand total of...26 miles. "Long Island is far."
Wasn't talking about the distance between Nassau and MetLife. Was talking about the distance between Long Island and Manhattan , which is 33 miles if you're going from Nassau to Midtown. Maybe not "far" in your mind. But it's not very close either.
I think you need to stop commenting on geography - you're embarrassing yourself. Have you ever even been on Long Island? Manhattan is closer to Nassau County, Long Island than Metlife Stadium is, not farther away. Let's consider Times Square the center of Manhattan (which to you is the only part of New York City that matters) and consider what is arguably the best known location in Nassau, Belmont Racetrack. The distance between the two is fifteen miles. That's not "far", in fact, it's pretty damn close.
Technically, as an island, Long Island includes Brooklyn and Queens, not to mention anything about all the great eye-talian joints.
Long Island as a whole is pretty nice. Nothing bad to say about it. But its not New York City. And the Isles moving proves my point on that. Even though they moved to another area which still isnt NYC , Brooklyn is much more "Manhattan-like" than Long Island is. Im not going by miles and geography. Im going with what most of the metro area looks at and thinks. Bottom line is Isles have much more appeal to them right now playing in Brooklyn than they did playing in Nassau County. But they dont have anywhere near the appeal they would have if they played in Manhattan. And that was my only point that the LI locals on here arent understanding.
