If the Jets were to leave New York, would you still be a fan?

But if they were the LA Tyrannosaurs Rexes, pretty cool, yes?

They should come to Omaha or Lincoln.

    The Omaha Mutuals.

    Or the Lincoln Emancipators.

It really depends on how it goes down....
There's just moving: Oakland Raiders-->LA Raiders-->Oakland raiders or LA Rams-->St. Louis Rams-->LA Rams, Chicago Cardinals-->St. Louis Cardinals-->Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals, LA Chargers--> SD Chargers, or Baltimore Colts-->Indianapolis Colts.
Then there's moving and changing everything: Houston Oilers--> Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns-->Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Texans-->Kansas City Chiefs.

Even before the Houston Texans came about, I don't think there were a lot of Titans fans in Houston, but the same fans probably rooted for the Raiders wherever they called home. There seem to always be other circumstances at play, like the Colts sneaking out in the middle of the night, or the Cardinals never really having actual fans anywhere during the 20th century. I saw the NFL films about die-hard Baltimore Colts fans in the late '80's I think. They were still wearing blue and white and filling up the sports bars. I'm sure most of those guys are Ravens fans now, though.

I'm too old and committed. I mean, I'm from Portland, and let's say the Raiders moved here. I've got no connection to them what-so-ever. The Jets are the only team I've ever been interested in or watched for 21 years. I've only attended NFL games when they were playing on the West Coast. So then moving wouldn't really effect me that much.

I don't turn my back on anybody first - but whoever turns his back on me is lost to me as well.

It's a matter of principle, and this idea called loyalty.

How much getting shat upon is acceptable to those who would refuse to cut their ties? As Detroit's Joe Schmidt once said, "Life is a shit sandwich and every day you take another bite."

If Woody the Waiter put the brown plate special down in front of me I'd be out the door before I knew where I was going.

Just curious why. What's in the Jets name? It would still be the same team, with the same history. I understand stopping being a fan just because they moved, but not sure I do because of the team name. Is it because in changing from the Jets they're forsaking their history/identity?

What if they stayed where they are and decided to become the Dragons? Would you stop being a fan then? Please understand, I'm not judging or criticizing you, am just curious. With what we've been through as fans over the last 40+ years, I could never blame anyone for bailing on this team. I find the reasons we become fans of a team interesting. Many people have told me over the years that they don't understand how I became a Jets fan.

To me the team I support has two parts to its name...both important. New York and Jets. If I think about the Jets moving, it feels weird and unnatural, so I don't reckon I could follow them. Which given I live in England and have only visited NY a few times is strange, I know, but there it it.

As long as it is the Jets I will still follow and get NFL Ticket. They are my team.

Now if another NFL team filled the void by coming to New York say Jaguars or Titans, that team would be my second team after the Jets.

The New York Jets are consistently among the top 5 teams in the NFL with the most fan attendance.

Conversely, Oakland and St. Louis are among the worst in the league in terms of fan attendance.

Until the Jets are among the worst in attendance for a decade+, we have nothing to worry about.

I was about to post virtually the same Donkey. I'm a fan of the New York Jets. Hell, even if the relocated to London it wouldn't be the same, even if it was more convenient. Not that it is very likely.
