I hope he's the pick. Worth a shot with how much 1st rounders flame out anyway. I'd rather take a chance on a potential Pro Bowler than to settle.

Can someone explain why he's coming out this year though? If it's basically a redshirt year, wouldn't it make more sense for him to spend another year in school and just come out next season healthy with a year off from football anyway if he's going to do that?

No guarantee he won't blow out his knee at school again. Rather go pro and get paid

He was my top defensive prospect before the injury, I was excited to watch him against OSU and their scheme but the unfortunate injury happened.

I am nervous about that knee but the talent he had pre-injury may just be worth the risk, he is a very hard worker and be wad in great condition before the injury so I got to think he will recover just fine and probably faster than most expect.

If he is there I don't think I could pass on him. Sometimes the only way to succeed is to take those significant risks in life.

Worse case scenario, he doesn't recover and is a bust due to injury, its not like we've never missed in the first round before, at least this would be based off a calculated risk with high reward potential.

    I would do it.

Sorry. Went right over my head. That's what I get for reading and responding in a hurry. Didn't even see the smiley emoticon.

I could be wrong, but I think he meant just stay in school, rehab the knee and finish his degree, not play football. If he did that, he'd probably be able to participate in the Combine and work out for teams next year and could probably make more money. I understand his wanting to go ahead and get paid to do the rehab, however. Not sure what I'd do if it was me.

Only part of that was due to the injury. The rest was that the Jets had bigger needs and RBs are generally not 1st round picks any more. One can find very good RBs in the 2nd round and lower.

Because in the current state of the NFL, drafting a RB at 6 is completely ludicrous.

If the Redskins had taken Williams, Gurley would not have been a bad pick at # 6 last year.

Sure he was injured but the doctors said that his recovery was on track.

His speed / athleticism may be limited (he may have been exposed in the championship game).

If he has a bad combine we probably should pass.

He doesn't have that sideline to sideline range that the Jets need right now. CJ Mosley from the Ravens was far superior coming out of college. He's a sound linebacker, good tackler, can shed blocks - but we technically already have 2 linebackers in David Harris and Henderson that can do that.

What do you think about Scooby Wright?

His athleticism may be limited for the NFL but the guy has a motor and really goes all out.

The only concerns are his injuries, on draftbreakdown.com I had to go back to 2014 to look at his tape, but the dude no doubt can ball. There's a tape with him against UCLA in 2015, he was injured prior and I can't believe he stayed in the game, and played! I think you need to have players like that on your team. I put on that Arizona State tape from 2014 and was amazed.

To me, he's got excellent technique to off-set the lack of athleticism. He reminds me a little bit of Chris Borland and I really liked him coming out of college despite the lack of athleticism too. 3rd round doesn't seem too bad right? I wonder if the Jets will still look to draft him because he's not super athletic.

I am not sure if Noah Spence and / or Scooby will be there when we pick in round two.

Keep an eye out for Yannick Ngakoue OLB from Maryland, he is rising fast, especially since he put together some good games against OT that were highly rated and were selected or will be selected in the the 1st round of last year and this years draft.

Haven't seen any tape of Noah Spence yet, I'll have to check him out. Scooby, depending on the combine could go late in RD2, but I expect a round 3 selection if he's not fully healthy.

I'll have to check that OSU tape out! Thanks for the recommendation!
