My favorite part about him is his accuracy and arm strength towards the sideline, opens up so much more of the playbook
He can throw throw the deep out consistently with this arm too.I haven't really seen much of him and hope to watch more, but if the Jets like this guy they probably have to take him at twenty. I don't think this class has a Winston or Mariota, but I don't it's nearly as bad as people make out to be, granted these QBS are given time to develop.
He is pretty much ruining our chances from getting him at 20. Thought he would stay under the radar till Senior Bowl week; so much for that.
Doubt it. Derek Carr had a great Senior Bowl, but still went in round two. He'll have the FCS narrative against him too. You guys have seen more of him than I have, but I think he may be there at two.
Based on the way this kid is playing today, I don't see any way this kid drops to 20. If the Jets want him, they'd probably have to trade up in to the top 10, if not the top 5. Wentz looks pretty amazing based on what I'm seeing today. I can see why you like him so much Legler. Mobile, athletic, strong accurate arm, can throw accurately on the run, can make all the throws. If the Browns or Texans don't take him, they're nuts! I don't think the Jets would get the opportunity to draft him without giving up the ranch to trade up into the top 5, and even that might not be enough.
If Wentz fell to the Jets at #20, that would be incredible!! That would make up for a lot of their other bad luck in their history.
Yes. NFL GMS are stubborn. From Russell Wilson, to Flacco, Carr, and the bsts that have been taken in the to(Locker and Gabbert who were bad college QBS), I wouldn't be shocked.
I still don't understand why Carr dropped to the 2nd round. I would hope it wouldn't be because of his last name, but Carr was prepped as an NFL QB since the day his brother went to the NFL. Wentz looks less developed than Carr, but man he's got the best arm talent in the draft. I would definitely select him at 20, especially if none of the premier linebackers or OT are available.
We'll be picking ahead of the Texans in the draft, due to their playoff appearance. We have to remember this is FCS competetion... there's no way an FCS QBS goes top three, top five, or top ten most likely. There's no way the Browns are picking him at two, with some of the players that will be avaliable. And I don't wish the Browns upon any Quarterback.
Fresno State Offense scared NFL teams away, I think. I don't enough about Wentz yet, but he's very intriguing and based on the three games I've seen I like him more than Lynch an Cook. I've just seen the NFL miss on too many Quarterbacks in the past to think there's no chance he won't be avaliable at pick twenty, especially when you consider the FCS competition.
As important as the QB position is, the sorry state of the Browns' QB corps, and as talented as this kid looks, I don't think that his playing in the FCS is going to hurt him very much. He looks like a man among boys. He's got better tools than any of the QBs who will be in the draft regardless of what level they played. If the Browns pass on him, I think they'll kick themselves for the next 10-15 years. I wouldn't wish the Browns on him, either, but I still think they'll be nuts if they don't take this kid. I think by the time the Combine and Sr. Bowl are over, he is gonna rocket up the charts.
There's no doubt that a lot of NFL GMs are stubborn, closed-minded, and backwards thinking, if not flat out stupid, but surely they are learning. Some were knocking Cam because of the offense he played in. Others knocked Mariota because of the spread offense. The same thing hurt Carr. Some knocked Flacco because he was from the FCS. There should be enough evidence now to show them the error of their ways of thinking. That kind of thinking is akin to not drafting a player from a certain school ever again because you had a high profile bust from that school.
Maybe he goes before our pick, but I don't it's done deal. I really like the spot the Jets are in. We may not make the playoffs next year, but if we take a QB at twenty, we can sit him for a year without any pressure assmuing Fitzpatrick doesn't implode. I see a potentialy nice smooth transition at the Quarterback position. I just hope we pick the right guy, if one is taken.
