Guys don't forget we still have Jace Amaro. And Enunwa did good at H-Back for us.

Sudfeld might also contribute. Good ST player, too.

I hear what you're saying. If he has his preferences, he may not care about TEs. We don't know how much, if any, Mac listens to the HC, OC or DC when making his decisions on whom to take, but supposedly he does solicit input and they work together. The important thing, imo, is that Chan will adapt his offense and use whatever he has at hand. I think Mac knows what a TE can do for an offense. Sometimes one can't get what one wants, and has to settle for what's available. The TEs mentioned in this thread should be relatively cheap and would provide an instant upgrade over anyone the Jets currently have on the roster. I don't think the same thing can be said for WRs, and maybe not for RBs. Miller might want a whole lot more money than we suspect, and Gailey might not like Spiller. Spiller has a problem staying healthy and on the field just as Ivory does.

No way we let both Powell & Ivory go.
    Powell is coming back.

Id like to see us take a shot a Doug Martin or even better Alfred Morris. They can do things Ivory can't.Either one seems like a good fit in this offense. We aren't gonna make the same kind of additions like we did last year but after we resign our own guys we want to bring back I see us making atleast a few moves in FA and I expect Mac to make a few more trades.I really don't want to lose Snacks

Don't agree. If you have a good offense you don't need to worry so much about field position. I don't think Belichick cares very much where the Pats offense starts. I think he only cares that the returner takes care of the ball. With the kickoff moved up to the 35, you're probably better off taking a knee and starting at the 20 anyway. As I posted many times, I think Kerley did a very good job on punt returns. Okay, he didn't break many long ones, but he took care of the ball and that's the most important thing. I think he only fumbled once and that was out of bounds. No need to replace Kerley. Jets finished tied for 14th overall in punt returns, that's not so bad.

I almost always agree with you, but not in this instance. I think the key sentence is the bolded one. I think not caring about field position is more than just a matter of having a good offense. I think it takes a very good OL and a topnotch QB to not care. Belichick can afford to not care about field position. He has an excellent OL and has one of the top 2-3 QBs in the NFL who's a surefire HOFer. We don't have that on the Jets. While taking care of the ball is the most important factor for the returner, it can't be denied what a huge boost to a team a great punt return can be, and how advantageous it can be to give your team the ball 2o-3o yards (or more) downfield from where the returner caught the ball, not to mention the returner taking one all the way back for a TD.

In addition, having to scheme to stop a top PR gives the opposing team something else to worry about and to have to scheme to prevent, and gives them less time to work on stopping one's offense.

I suggest as well that it gives the punting team a lift to get down the field and hold the returner to no return or a return of less than 5-10 yards.

Players I'd like us to look at. Many will be too expensive obviously

RB - Matt Forte, Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Lamar Miller, Khiry Robinson, Charcanderick West
TE - Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener, Ladarius Green (doubt he hits FA)
    OL - everyone
    OLB - Bruce Irvin
    MLB - Brandon Marshall
FS Eric Weddle - may be the most prized player to reach FA, won't be affordable
    P - everyone

What are you talking about? Bellicheck has one of the best returners in the league in Julian Edelman. They were the #1 team in the league in punt returning last year. That's in addition to their great offense. Anyone who doesn't think that field position is critical doesn't understand football. The Jets cannot afford to continue ignore special teams if they want to be one of the better teams in the league.

If we lose one of Ivory or Powell, I would not mind Lamar Miller one bit. He's been underutilized big time in Miami, and is only 24 with very little wear and tear.

I think Ivory/Miller could make a killer combo. Only problem is Ivory has durability issues.

Bring back Ivory, Powell, and bring in Miller. And draft one too. :) Let's get rich there, fuck it, and younger, and fast for fucks sake!

Oh, and it's Charcandrick, not Charcanderick, lol

Lol nice analogy. We'll be getting Madden 2012 instead of 2016.

I'd take Lamar Miller in a heartbeat at the right price.

He's not going to sign with a team "at the right price." He's a very young durable and talented runningback (not to mention very good at catching the ball out of the backfield) hitting free agency with a solid 4 years left before his body deteriorates.

I would expect a Shady McCoy-esque contract to the tune of around 4-5 years $44-$54 million. Way out of our price range. Thanks Revis!

Well that would just get things confusing.

I picture it now, mothers go out to buy their sons WR Brandon Marshall jerseys but come home with defensive Marshall's instead. Son erupts.
