I really think people are hating on Hack more than he deserves. The talent is all there and if he has an NFL offense like he did freshman year he is great. Plus in the bowl game last year he was a man possessed. This year he got hurt. Cant blame him on that

I also do not mind reaching for a QB when there is BPA. I say BPA rather than positions of need but when it comes to QB that is the number one priority over ANYTHING. You need one to win. We have never had one since namath. We have never won a ring since namath. See a pattern? It is a crap shoot worth taking if you have the opportunity, every time

Reaching for a QB who isn't very good is not going to make him good.

The Bills reached for a bad QB and were not rewarded. Taking EJ where they took him did not make him good.

Taking a Connor Cook at 20 is not going to make Connor Cook good.

This isn't 2014 with a plethora of quality QBs or 2015 with 2 stars and one hidden gem.

We took the hidden gem last year.

There are no round appropriate quality QBs and the only hidden gem is Cardale, but not in rounds 1-3.

I'm interested to see how rusty he is, I think he practiced just this week for the first time in months. Coming back and winning a national championship in his first start would be impressive.

Back to back throws in a Carson game I'm watching, don't know why I can't embed the GIF's or what the hell the 3 word phrases in the links are. I love how on the second one the corner thinks he's got himself a pick 6 because he's used to playing against FCS quarterbacks, then he realizes he's playing an NFL QB and watches the ball whizz by his head right on target.

Damn, he throws flat-footed as well. Do QBs not learn how to use their feet and step into throws any more?

Those are not flat footed throws. The second could have used a hitch right before the throw but looks like he has the feet to learn that in the NFL.

The heck they aren't. He moves his feet before he throws and set up well, but then doesn't move his feet again until after he throws the ball. He doesn't step into his throws.

I respectfully disagree. If that first gif if not an example of him stepping into a throw, I don't know what one is. The first and not the second throw is more indicative of his full throwing based on the tapes I've watch. The second was an impressive display of arm strength though I think that's a pick 6 in the NFL.

As I noted in the OP, his occasional flat footedness in the pocket is one of the few downsides I see with him. He has a very strong arm and I think he trusts it too much at times, neglecting to use his legs to power the throws. I think it works for him because of his competition level but as he adjusts to the pros he'll start to learn when he can and can't do that. (But in general, he's good with stepping into throws)

In the first gif, he takes two steps back, then takes one hop step forward, and then throws. I can see why you think he steps into the throw, and he may get some momentum from the hop and some torque from his body, but it still looks to me like the throw is primarily with his arm. Of course, I may be mistaken. I definitely like his feet more in the 1st gif than the 2nd.

He definitely has a strong arm, but the throw in the 2nd gif, is all arm, and in the NFL, I agree, that would be a pick 6. He needs to stride into the throw to get more velocity on it, or lead the receiver downfield a little with a little air under it. I love his arm, his size and his accuracy. His feet move better than Connor's, at least in those two throws. I'm definitely gonna need to watch more film on him, but I could be convinced that he's worth taking.

It's another weak class at QB. Not 2013 weak but the analysts will again be split on who the best prospect is and whoever goes 1st among the QB's will have as big a chance to bust as anybody else chosen in the top 36.

I expect the Browns to make another bad choice at QB. It's not clear that anybody else should spend a top 36 pick on a QB but 3 other teams likely will.

Very compact quick release on that first throw. For a relatively deep pass, that's nice.

Damn fine first completion. A laser beam to the sideline into zero window.

    Nice.

And a bullet on a roll out.

    An athletic Joe Flacco?

    Wow, now another nice throw.
