Hell yeah! Jets announced today that April 'fool' and the rest of the special teams staff is GONE! Won't be returning next year in their words. Just goes to show this regime is paying attention!
I agree with the bolded portion, but it may have been a matter that they were better than anyone else the Jets had, so had no choice.
Put Reilly, Mauldin, Henderson, Lattimore, Rontez Miles, Ronald Martin, Taiwan Jones, Dion Bailey and Walls and McDougal as gunners. I feel like we wanted to keep too much defensive flexibility so we handcuffed one of the units. Roster spots should not be used on backup safeties and linebackers if they're not going to contribute on special teams outside of maybe 1/2 rotational guys. Cumberland proved to be the biggest waste of money and a roster spot this season really.
I agree with your thoughts about backup safeties and linebackers, but if you'll remember, we started the season with no depth at S due to AA and JJ both winding up on IR. The new guys the Jets brought in were focusing on trying to learn the D system, so STs was probably not even a consideration. Taiwan Jones was on the PS, and Bailey didn't get here until what, halfway through the season or thereabouts? If they're here in 2016, then sure. Hopefully we can find a WR or two that can serve as gunners. I'm not sure that Walls, Ronald Martin or Miles will be back.
Amen, he was awful. I took forgranted all the years westhoff ran the special teams. This has been a nightmare since he retired. I saw the jets special teams were ranked 25th. I cant evven imagen there were teams worse.
That was fast. Now Bowles just has to find a decent replacement, and it will be a drastic improvement.

Amen... now maybe davis, Cro, Cumberlan, RT JO, will get the measage as well as Millner, Jace A, etc. As I said we have adults running things now...What a wonderful concept "accountability"... to bad WDC doesn't have some of that.
