This. The Jets need to re-sign Fitz, and then there's Mo. They only have $18-$20 million in cap space unless they start cutting a bunch of players, then they have to replace them. They have 23 players that are FAs. Most of those are starters and key backups. I see no way that the Jets are going to be able to sign any FAs with bigger contracts (over $3 million per year). If they do, it seems like they'll wind up having to fill a bunch of roster spots with UDFAs and PS-caliber players.
Rbs like Gurley are a luxury. A great passing offense is more important. What NFL team is "run dominant" and winning championships, and doing it with first round picks? The Chargers drafted one and he was benched for Donald Brown, a former first round RB.
Is there any chance of us trading up? What's Mo Wilk's situation. Ravens might be looking to give up the 6, which could put us in position to go for a QB or other stud.
Trading up historically next works out. The NFL franchises that consistently win over the last 15 or so years (Steelers, Ravens, Patriots, Packers namely and now what looks to be the Seahawks and Cardinals) do not trade up. It's no secret that huge trade ups like the 'Skins for RGIII, and even the Ricky Williams trade usually set franchises way back.
This ILB class tho... Jaylon Smith, Myles Jack, and Reggie Ragland smh if we dont get one of them, thats what I want in round 1.
What do the Steelers, Ravens, Pats, Pack, Seahawks and Cards have in common? A franchise QB. Gotta get one. Nothing else matters. _
True but they've been built in environments that allowed them to develop into one. Do Roethlisberger or Flacco go to the Browns and become the players they are today?
I'm praying it's not one of the runningbacks. The NFL's leader rusher had what 1400 yards? 7 guys eclipsed 1,000 yards and only 3 were 1,100+. If a once in a lifetime talent like Fournette were there you pull the trigger. Zeke is a first round pick 15 years ago and Henry will flop in my opinion (like most big slow plodding Alabama runningbacks whom run behind NFL offensive lines in college do). Pleeeeease stay away from the backs Mac! I really hope in the year the entire league is screaming at teams not to take a runningback we don't jump the gun and take one. Look how it worked out for the Chargers last year.
The Giants traded up for Eli Manning resulting in two SB wins. We traded up in the draft that got us Revis and Harris. Trading (up = better player or down = more picks) involves thought and strategy and can help a team much more than idly sitting at their designated spot hoping that the ideal player happens to fall there. Usually I am a proponent of trading down but we ain't getting a LT at pick 20.
I think Bryce Petty is better than all these QB's coming out this year... but i'm not an NFL expert so...
They said this about Todd Gurley.. If we can get Smith we better be all over that. The kid is really good.
You are a terrible QB evaluator. @Br4d schooled you in 2014 with his exact QB draft guess yet ou never admitted defeat. We all know you are a lawyer and you will win every argument on the internet but this doesn't change one fact. Br4d is much much better than you when it comes to evaluating QB's.
