Just don't ask Geno to teach you clock management Bowles and Gailey have 9 months to get their sht together...it will be tough to see an easy schedule in 2015 go by the Boards with AfC North and NFC west next year SMH Trick is see how Division opponents shape up over off season: Pats get a little weaker, Buff stronger? Start planning after FA/Draft how to win Division for Gods sake...don't let us dangle for WC again Winning Division is most important goal and get those missing pieces of players to do it IMHO
The Jets need to avoid the one season trap thing though. They have structural deficiencies in the roster at this point. Too many aging stars and not enough young talent sprinkled around the roster. Too many areas of the team where all the best players are 30+ or approaching it. They really need to get younger and better on the edges of the trenches on both sides of the ball. They need more depth at RB, and probably at WR and TE also. They need another developmental QB alongside Petty. They need to develop a good coverage scheme that takes into account the strengths and weaknesses of the talent they have in place. Right now the middle of the field is a nightmare in coverage. They need to fix that. More zone and less man-to-man only fixes problems if the guys playing the zone are quick enough to get to the receivers running free in it.
This was a grave mistake the Tannenbaum/Rex regime made and hopefully with the benefit of hindsight the current regime does not fall into this false sense of security. The Jets cannot afford to waste draft picks on "project" players. The team absolutely needs players who can make an impact on day 1. Bowles acknowledged the lack of speed on the outside of the defense, specifically with the LB core. I imagine this will be a primary position addressed in the off-season and hopefully these players contribute ASAP.
