I'm in total agreement. I was defending that I believe Zeke is worth a 1st rd pick, for the right team. I prefer not to use our 20th pick on any RB.
I completely agree with you. I think there is a serious case of overhype going on with Elliot amongst fans. The film doesn't lie. Yes, he has great numbers but look at his best moments with a skeptical eye and imagine much bigger and much FASTER NFL defenses playing him. His best plays have a common theme. He runs wildly through gigantic holes and frequently isn't challenged by defender until well down field. And unless there is a huge gap in the defensive backfield, he doesn't make that guy miss, doesn't break a tackle, and regularly does not pull away even when he has a step, an angle, or both! He is not in the same stratosphere as Todd Gurley. He doesn't break tackles, he doesn't shake and bake, he doesn't pull away from defenses even when exploiting massive holes generated by his OLINEMEN. He is Ron Dayne. Book it. He might fall because of the knee injury but he is considered the top OLB in the draft. When will he be healthy is the real question

His first was a no brainer, LWilliams considered the best player by many , so grabbed at 6 He got us gems in later rounds eg Maudlin, but DSmith is questionable At 20 there will be crap? We all know the players we need jus not sure where they rank in importance with MM. He will be eying the BPA for sure . I remember he would not sell the farm for Mariota ... That worked out fine. He may not move up this draft if cost is prohibitive, that's his MO.

You guys laughed when I wanted to draft Todd Gurley last year well here we are again. If we move up a few spots we can roll the dice on this beast to feat on opposing QBs for the next decade: Jaylon Smith - LB - Fighting Irish ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Notre Dame junior LB Jaylon Smith needs reconstructive knee surgery. Per the report, Smith will undergo surgery later this week. The stud linebacker suffered the devastating knee injury early in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State over the weekend. He reportedly sustained damage to multiple ligaments, presumably the ACL and MCL. Assuming he opts to enter the draft anyway, the injury may push Smith from the No. 5 range to the No. 15 range. According to Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune, that 10-spot drop could be worth close to $15 million. Of course, Smith reportedly has a $5 million loss of value policy, so that cushion mitigates a bit of the expected hit. Smith may decide to return to school to rehab his knee and his stock. Or he may decide to roll the dice on the draft, hoping his fall isn't as big as expected and the insurance payout covers most of it. It's a fascinating decision, though we're dismayed on Smith's behalf that he has to make it in the first place.
Does anyone have information on inside linebackers outside of Jack? If we go into next season with Harris and keep Demario Davis the defense becomes even more vulnerable with a year on tape. There's also only about one inside linebacker a year that hits free agency that's worth anything. This year it's Derrick Johnson and he's probably near done. It really seems like a position you draft, develop and only keep for one additional contract. We've been ignoring this for years.

Witherspoon has missed most of the past two seasons and McClain is a head case with the retirement and suspensions. I missed Vincent Rey whom could be a good pickup but would be transitioning from a 4-3 OLB to a 3-4 ILB. Trevathan is another one I missed, but with what money would we sign any of these three guys? I think the move is to draft one and have him, as Harris' replacement after he's gone, for the next decade. Eric Kendricks for Minnesota and Denzel Perryman for San Diego are both looking like a players.
It would truly be rolling the dice and a HUGE risk to even take him at this point, much less trade up for him. He may never be the same player. His range of motion and speed may be a fraction of what it was. I read an article about ACL tears on Monday. In it, it said that the average recuperation time in the NFL is 8-9 months, and that WRs and RBs who suffer an ACL injury when fully recovered are only at about 75% of their speed and mobility prior to the injury. If the Jets took him, he might never play a down in 2016 because he'd miss the offseason workouts, OTAs, mini-camps, and probably all or most of TC. With that being the case, even with as much as have been wanting the Jets to get a stud pass rusher for the last 10 years, I hope the Jets won't consider him unless he goes back to school, proves that his knee is sound and that he hasn't lost much speed or mobility, then enters the 2017 draft.
