He's a horrendous punter dude.... I dont even care about the position much in general but he's the worst I've seen this team have in my lifetime. It takes a lot for me to even notice or care about punting so thats saying something.

Quigley is the least consistent punter I've seen. at least once a game without fail he will either shank one or he will slip up and kick a line drive. They dont have stats for that but its true. Not sure why you are citing statistics as he's statistically terrible as well - 26th in just total average yardage per punt, 31st in net, 30st in return average.

The punt coverage was bad but he was a major reason why. His line drives made it much more difficult for the already lacking special teamers to get down the field. The Sproles return was a terrible line drive. but that's not just a random slip up, he was burning this team with line drive punts all year.

I dont even care about punting and I'm not even a big proponent of field position in general but even I recognize that Quigley is a joke. As for your solicitation for proposed replacement? well shit- I'd replace him with literally any young punter at this point. Luckily, college football graduates numerous punters every year, surely one of them ought to be able to kick it 40 yards without fucking up once a game. Find a UDFA, pay him $5 more than his other offers and wham you upgraded the team

All year he terribly launches line drive punts in the middle of the field costing his team and then the ONE time when it would be more advantageous to kick a line drive, in your own end, into the wind in Buffalo, he skies it high and off to the side, the absolute worst idea as it blows out of bounds for 20 fuckin yards.

    what a dumbass

I don't disagree with most of what you said, but if there are so many guys out there better than Quigley, why haven't a dozen or so teams grabbed one? I think a lot of the Quigley votes here are based solely on his puke kick Sunday. There are people who actually believe that cost the Jets the game even though there were 52 minutes still to play.

I'm not so sure he got "plenty" of opportunities. He only played in what, the last 2-3 games, maybe 4 at most? Many RBs need to run the ball a LOT to get in the groove. He was coming off a major injury, had only been practicing a short time, and may not have been 100% himself. You know that confidence is a big part of a player's success. When players are coming off a major injury, it usually takes a while for them to regain their full confidence and trust, both in the injured area, but also in themselves. Ridley had a lot of rust and really not a lot of opportunities to rebuild his confidence. He may never be the same player he was before his injury. I can't remember what his injury was, but if it was the ACL, then he probably won't be as good as before. I read an article just yesterday that said that WRs and RBs coming off of ACL injuries are never the same and are only at about 75% of what they were before. At any rate, it really doesn't matter. I don't think he'll be back unless it's just for camp competition.

That's not nice. You're actually making it sound like Devin Smith is useful...

Quigley was a negative contributor. While milliner was zero contribution so my vote goes to Quigley.

Probably one of the worst punters we have ever had...I'll see that 21 yarder out of the end zone in my nightmares for years

Cutting Dee does us no good as it will cost us 5 million in cap space

Yeah, there's a difference among players who really should not be on the Jets' roster no matter what their contract terms are, those whose cap/contract situation will dictate their future and those more generally who underplayed their contract in 15. Milliner's cap situation essentially guarantees him a space in camp to try and make the team, and beyond that will make it difficult to cut him even if his showing is marginal.

My guess is the number who the Jets will look at as they should be gone no matter what is rather small. But it likely does include Kerley. I don't see them even trying to negotiate with him. Same for Cumberland.

But I am not sure Pace and K. Davis are on that list. I could see the Jets giving them a shot to make the roster. Pace for example might have a role as a backup if he signs at a low enough number. K. Davis I would guess depends on whether a returning Amaro and don't forget Sudfeld (who had been a valuable special teams player in addition I think to showing promise as a backup TE) make him expendable. (Of course they could also go elsewhere to fill the TE spot on the roster, but I think Gailey might be happy with only two TE's on the roster - we shall see.)

I would also like to add D. Davis to that list, and my guess is since he's an FA some other team will take a chance on him and the Jets will not try to beat his price. I don't see them trying to sew him up before FA. So luckily he's probably a goner even if not technically someone who the Jets might feel has literally no place on the team.

Quigley? I know he gets much hate here. But I would not be surprised if he gets a shot to make the roster. I could be wrong here, and Bowles does seem to be okay with cutting someone who he has seen enough of, like Coples. But it's not a sure thing that Quigley is gone. More likely to get a shot is Bullock. He makes Folk look pricey.

I expect the Jets will try and renegotiate Cromartie's contract rather than to cut ties with him abruptly.

As for the mention above of Winters, he's much more likely to come back than Breno, especially with Colon possibly retiring but certainly not dependable as a season long starter at RG. Imo, Winters will be back. Breno? I don't know.

I also don't know about McDougle since I don't know his contract situation. But he has certainly failed to impress.

Others not mentioned above include Owazu, Walls and Qvale. Or Douzable (who I expect back) and Bowen (might be back) for that matter.

And then there's those in FA situations, like Ferguson, Harrison and Wilkerson, but this post is already long enough.

I wish Ferguson was a FA so we could resign him for his true worth. Otherwise, pretty good post. I do think K. Davis is history though.
