Tony Pauline @TonyPauline Insiders tell me New York Jets will target a QB in the 1st two rounds. Team has been extensively scouting the top QB prospects all season
I could see QB, RB, OT, OG, ILB, or OLB. All depends what they do with their own free agents and free agency of course. (And value, obviously)
I take this with a grain of salt, last year was a great QB class this year not so much, ride Fitzpatrick hes only 32 and played very well in the first year of this offense Marshall and Decker probably made him look better at times than he actually was but we shouldnt be taking a QB high unless theyre clearly the better prospect, we should be giving Petty more time to develop. He has the tools and should move to backup status next year
Doesn't necessarily mean that. Many people including myself want the Jets to keep drafting QBs until we find our guy. It doesn't necessarily have to be an early pick. Cut Geno and let Petty and the draft pick compete for the backup spot.
From Pauline other tweet: Tony Pauline @TonyPauline @JetsInsider Petty was a 4th rnd pick & I'm hearing other things which lead many to believe they feel the need to bring in another young QB
Westoff was on the other day and he said his sources inside the Jets say they love Petty. I really hope they don't go QB in this draft. It's extremely weak. _
Offensive line and linebacker in the first two rounds. Followed by more olinemen and linebackers. And then running backs. I'm good with every other position on the squad (other than punter). _
Hackenberg in the second. Decker and Marshall would do wonders for him. He had Allen Robinson his freshman year and had unparalleled chemistry with him.
Man, I wish both of the linebackers didn't get injured. I would really like us to rebuild the right side of the line in preparation for someone to take over that LT spot too. I guess the Jets aren't as confident in Petty as many believed? This shouldn't come much as a surprise, maybe they need insurance as well. I hope the Jets aren't panicking because of what transpired yesterday. It was an ugly loss, but let's not run the team to the ground with bad picks. I wouldn't mind a QB - but I don't see the Jets carrying 4 QBs ... I wouldn't mind them trading down per usual. I think some of the QBs if acquired on the right team would pan out, tough to say.
MLB/OT/WR/RB I think these should be the top 4 positions addressed. If they love one of the QB's, than go for it. If Goff falls to 20, I would totally understand them taking him. But in reality, any of the 4 positions I mentioned (Maybe not RB in the 1st). Maybe Wentz in the 3rd or 4th?
Offensive Line!!! Or a linebacker who can get to the damn QB (the same need we've had for 10 years now)
